Hey Guys,

I'm having trouble with this question: What is your name exactly as it appears on your Permanent Resident Card?

There is a discrepancy in how the N-400 fields are formatted and how the green card is formatted.

This is what the legal name should be:

Given Name (first name): "Daenerys"

Middle Name: "Stormborn"

Family Name (last name): "Targaryen Drogo"

But the front of the green card says:

Surname: "Targaryen Drogo"

Given Name "Daenerys S"

and the back of the green card says:

"Targaryen<Drogo<<Daenerys<Stormbor"

The N-400 is asking "What is your name exactly as it appears on your Permanent Resident Card?" with fields for Given Name, Middle Name and Family name and I'm not sure what to put.

Thanks!  Was looking for something that people could identify as far as what name belonged where.

Does it not matter that stormborn is missing the last letter on the back of the green card so it just says, "Stormbor"?

Go by what's at the front of the card. What's you see at the back is the machine readable part of the card. There are rules as to how the numbers and letters at the back are generated so don't concern yourself with that honestly.

Estimated eligibility to apply was given as 11/15 by the online checker on USCIS website, but when I started filling it on 11/15 it said, I am not eligible to apply yet and that I will be eligible on 11/15. Nice going, USCIS. You never ceases to amuse me.

So I submitted it the day after.

Estimated case completion time
November 2020 (12 months)

Receipt number
xxxxx

Submitted date
November 16, 2019

And it says for biometrics:

Estimated wait time:
14 days

Yes. It is better to wait one day at least when filing online.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

Haha, but the front of the card only has the first letter of the middle name.

What do folks include when filing w. 5 yr rule? The first few sections for upload of evidence is quite clear. Green card and spousal stuff. (marriage cert. and marriage dissolution decree for my wife's previous marriage). But then the final section asks to upload additional evidence but I doesn't state what. I uploaded the following:

  • Wage and Tax transcript from IRS
  • Letter of Employment verification from HR
  • Evidence of Financial Support for Spouse that doesn't live with you (there's an I-130 pending for her on F2A)

Anything else I should upload?

With the 5 year rule it doesn't require much when filing. In that final section I sent tax transcripts, and our birth certificates just because I already had them scanned.
