Local US CIS Office Review: Memphis TN

Event Description

Embassy Review : I live in Middle TN, but was sent to Memphis for the Naturalization interview, instead of Nashville.
Interview was at 8:45, so I arrived 8:15. Security was easy and pretty friendly, considering. Check-in was friendly too, and it only took a couple of minutes. The waiting room was ok, more or less spacious. There were around 10 families waiting, and I was probably the third to be called, at 8:40. The officer was professional but very friendly, he tried to make sure I was not nervous (I wasn't, but it was nice to feel the friendliness and support), and first we talked a bit about the country where I was born and what he knows and likes about it. Then, I was only asked for my GC, ID and passport, none of the original documents I brought. We started with the civics test, passed the first 6 questions, then the reading/writing (on iPad). We went through the application. I brought a hard copy of the form with some info I had forgotten when filing online. Yes/No questions, talked about the oath, and finally he told me the oath ceremony was going to be in Nashville because that is the area where I live. I was out 15 minutes later. All in all, a very nice experience.
I would rate it with a 5, but a big problem for me was parking: the building has no parking, and every place around it was very expensive; we parked for just one hour and paid $10. I was with my toddler, it was raining, and I didn't want to be late looking around for decent parking, which probably doesn't exist in that area anyway...
Harassment Level : Good
