They are vetted for national security concerns (and other inadmissibilities) the same as anybody else.

The question of whether the DV makes sense right now is another issue entirely, but security-wise, public charge wise, etc., they go through the same process as anybody else.

Guess I heard wrong.  Damn fake news! LOL

Humour me....

Call 1-800-898-7180 and put your A# (or USCIS number) in using the automated system..

That will tell you if there was a judgement and final order of removal (and thus termination of your status) made against you in abstentia.

Please post back the results

I didn't think 800 numbers were accessible from abroad

YMMV

Hi there!

My case is a bit complicated. I traveled to the US on a F-1 Visa, got married and obtained my 2 Year conditional Green Card. I filed for divorce before the 2 years and due to health issues I had to leave the US right before it expired. Now It's been 8 years since I left, I lived in Argentina ever since and kept little to no contact with my ex-wife. What are my chances to file for re-entry and hopefully remove conditions a get the 10 year GC. I know It's been a while...what would the steps be to move back to the US?

Thanks a lot!

Ramiro

Unfortunately I don't currently have an employer...what I could do is contact my ex-wife, would that help? I did not file the I 407, just left the US before my Green Card expired. I currently have no ties, just people I know that live in the US. I thought I would save enough money to move there, but I guess I made the terrible mistake of not removing conditions before leaving.

You’re wasting your time on this green card thing.

To be honest, you look like you really just wanna work in the US to stay in the US.

The best choice for you to do that is look for an employer in the US that will be happy to sponsor you. There are plenty, just don't feel bad if you think you run into road blocks and the only way to find out is doing some research on those who know how to find some employers who will sponsor so make some great network/connection with those people that can help you out in the long run.

Just focus on that, you still have a long way to go so there will be no rush. To be better prepared, look into thoroughly and fully of the paperwork that were needed to be sent so it'll be much easier and quicker for you in ahead of time so you can send it right away instead of having the jet-lagged waiting for papers that you haven't got yet. I may not be speaking it right here because I've never gone through this or read through it myself but someone can always correct this on me.

You do that, and it'll be fine. In the meantime, do all of your medical here if it's cheaper to get things done than the ones in the US. That include dental and visions!

I guess so, thanks everyone for such useful information! I might be able to work around something with an employer, hopefully!

Your issues isn't even maintaining residency (it is - but it's not the main one) - your main issue is not removing conditions on your green card which ends up with your status being terminated. If you had 10 year green card, you could try to pull off SB-1 (although it would have been extremely unlikely - like others had mentioned - taxes and all other things that you need to do to maintain residency - primarily physical presence of some sort), but since you've had 2 year condition card, your chances are exactly zero.

There are not "plenty" of people "happy" to sponsor someone for a work visa. Without a highly specialized degree the chances of getting one are zero. Per law, employers are required to hire US citizens and legal residents before hiring a foreigner. So unless the OP has a super duper skill that no one else her has, he doesn't have a chance.

His best chance is to land a job with an American company doing business in Argentina and hope to get a relocation.  Even that is a long shot

YMMV

Nah maintaining residency without maintaining eligibility to immigrate pretty much closes the door, removed conditions or not.

SB-1 would require OP to be under some status making him eligible to immigrate.

SB-1 requires new medical, new police certificate, and a new affidavit.

Ex-husband isn’t one of those statuses.

This thread is a dead end
