@Paul & Maryok thanks for the advise.

It isn't advice, it's the law. You cannot work until you have EAD. Period.

The question remains. Did you apply for EAD?  Your timeline is not updated so we have no way of knowing when you applied for AOS

Nope, you can't work without authorization, even if it's from home. The location doesn't matter.

Spend your time waiting in a way that will help you when you DO get authorization (training classes, library, vocabulary if you need it, writing skills, etc.). Use the time to make yourself a more skilled, valuable employee; maybe that will help your financial situation even more by the time you are allowed to work. 🙂 Good luck!

As all other say, it's against the law to work without a GC or EAD and serious consequences can occur.

However, you are more than welcome to take classes/seminars, do job tour or build a network to meet and greet to know more about jobs, find out what classes/knowledge they'll appreciate you to know on your free time, attend workshops, non-paid intern (Not too sure about this one??), or any educational progress and do something as long it is not a paid position.

That's a nope. It's still potentially displacing a US-authorized worker, and would be classified as employment.

A simple way to determine if it is allowed is ask "if you were a tourist, can you do it?".

Hi guys!

I am currently waiting for my visa interview for Permanent Residency (K1 Visa).  Is it ok if I work from home here in Texas? which is obviously a US Company.  I passed all the exams, however they want to set up an interview via skype, I am just wondering if it is legal.  Any advise will be of great help.  Thank you

had two offers in hand while waiting for conditional GC/EAD but didn't start work. it's illegal.

waited for GC and then started working.

I know its tough. I wish I had a pill i'd just take for those months and wake up when I had my GC 😂

They said they had their biometrics on July 26. Oh, and by the way, I thought I would be the 20th person to say the same thing. You can't work without EAD or a Green Card))))) Good Lord...and Good Luck)

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

Yes, they said they had their biometrics on July 26th. They still didn’t answer the question if they applied for the EAD or not. As we know, EAD often comes before GC.
