The public charge issue is not about race..why even bring that up?....The public charge issue revolves around the likelihood of each INDIVIDUAL becoming a burden to the US taxpayer.....and it applies to immigrants from everywhere....and all races.

One last question for tonight, it’s 3 am in Indonesia and I’m tired. Can someone elaborate on the required Insurance. Will they be looking at my insurance history since Obama care ? Or just make sure we’re insured before we enter USA . Is travelers Insurance accepted ? That’s all I’ve had for the last two years . Prior to that I’ve just paid cash if I needed a doctor or prescription. ??

Traveler's insurance is for traveling to the US and returning home, not for living here.  You will both need some type of US-based health insurance.  Health care is so expensive here that paying cash is not an option for most people.

Obamacare (ACA) federal exchange is not considered a public charge benefit, however they will be supposedly giving greater positive weight to private health insurance, whatever that exactly means. Travelers insurance is not ACA compliant and will not be useful to either one of you. You need real actual insurance. It will certainly be a long while before your application would be considered or even potentially approved, so we cannot say what further changes could be made. If you intend on reestablishing domicile in the US, I would think you'd need health insurance from somewhere. You can do so privately from any company that provides in the state you will live or via an employer if they offer.

@missileman why bring it up? Well because of trumps thoughts about immigration while he’ comes from a long line of immigrants as well as being married to one. It’s hypocrisy isn’t it? In general , all these regulations and laws that are coming and are already in place are just a little harsh and ugly if you ask me. Sure you can say , it’s for our countries  good, we need this, it’s what makes America, I understand why we need some rules , but I have a resentment.... it’s not about race but the government makes it about race. It is in fact about race. The human race , it’s about human beings that should have the right to come to America just as your great great great grand daddy did..... it’s the reason you were born In The USA. Do you know how degrading and embarrassing it is to be rejected because a government assumes you want to live there country?...when the person just wants to be with their spouse / family.  Especially if you make twice the amount of a average Americans yearly salary ?If you read my original thread before this one, you will know what I’m trying to accomplish. Before you answer that , we know the green card is not intended for a tourist visa but my dad wants to meet my wife before he dies. So I’m doing what I have to do . I brought race into it because trump is acting like a racist . Not sure why your confused .

Halo: Just so we're clear - green cards are for perma living in the USA. Not for visiting. I'm sorry that your wife wants to see him, but that's not what the green card is for. There is no point in going through the expense and timeframe of this process if it's just for visiting.

Yeah well , we will live there and go through the green card process but if she choose to live somewhere else years later, she could. Nowhere does it say we HAVE to stay in USA correct? she can hand her green card back in Indonesia at the Us embassy and say she made a mistake and never return to USA after that. Unless your telling me , she will be forced to stay in a USA forever . Many people do regret moving to the states after a period of time and decide to go home. There is no law against that’

Yes she could choose to live somewhere else later on, and some do after making a good and honest attempt at actually living here. But what was the intent in obtaining the green card in the first place? Because if we start obtaining green cards with the purpose of just visiting someone instead of actually living there, we start treading into territory that sounds a lil' bit fraudy, which the USCIS doesn't like, and no one on this forum would certainly condone.
