What is the difference between LIN and IOE and what is a RFE?

LIN is the first three letters of a case number being processed in Lincoln Nebraska. However, they recently switched to starting all I130 cases (regardless of service center location) with the letters IOE. There's also a difference in how the cases are entered into the system.

RFE is an abbreviation for Request for Evidence. USCIS sends this request to ask for additional evidence if something was missing in the original I130 application packet sent to them.

Count 15 working days from when your case was sent, then start bugging them.

Your best bet will be to try as much as possible to reach them at the first hour to reduce your wait time.

Here's a rundown on how to go about it all:

Phone Number

NVC - 603-334-0700 [HOURS: 7am - 12am EST, M-F]

  • Press 1, for English
  • Press 2, for Spanish

After pressing 1 for English, the options are:

1, to verify priority date
2, to establish an agent, request fee bill or invoice number
3, to verify that they received your mail
4, to confirm date and time of interview
5, to update your mailing address, phone number, email address
6, if your case is at a US embassy or consulate overseas
7, for all other questions

Did anyone has success getting to the NVC with this tutorial? We are trying this third day in a row calling

exactly at 7am and still end up with 2-3 hours waiting times and then our cell phone provider just hung up. This is so frustrating 😫
