Thanks for your responses! Yeah, it probably does make it simpler, but the processing times for the EAD I have looked up is only about a month, so it should be fine; until then, I have a bank account in germany as well as travel insurance until end of next month, so I can wait the additional month just fine.

Month...?

Edit: Also, travel insurance is likely useless at this point. That's for people returning home - they likely do not actually cover anybody who has applied for residency.

Hey everyone,

currently filling out all necessary forms, like my I-485 and I-765. Me and my wife are planning to travel to visit my family in early November, so I thought it would make sense to also fill out I-131 for an advance parole travel document. Online, however, I see processing times of at least 3 months, which makes me feel like there isn´t much of a point filing it, since the green card itself will probably take around the same time. Does anyone have experience filing these together and when did you get your travel document? Thanks!

Regards

Yaru

I hope that you purchased your travel plans on a refundable/transferrable basis. Adjudication of AOS petitions, depending on the processing field office or service center seems to be currently running over a year. Within the last  month or so, USCIS, upwardly adjusted the processing times for EAD/AP processing to six to ten (6-10) months. Obviously, there are a lot of upset and saddened people with these prolonged processing times. Obviously, both of these time frame announcements are hot topics for discussion in the various AOS and Travel/Employment Forums, check out the many recent postings.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

I havent purchased anything yet, but we will definitely make it refundable just in case it doesnt work out. If nothing happens until October, we will probably plan it for January or February instead.

As for the insurance, they insucre any travel for up to 3 months, regardless of residency, from what I have read. But I will most likely check again to be safe. Thank you!

Official processing times: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ "Form: I-765 | Application for Employment Authorization" "Field Office or Service Center: National Benefits Center"

6.5 Months to 8.5 Months: Based on a pending I-485 adjustment application [(c)(9)]

Odd, it said 3 weeks to 3 months for me. Well, I will see. Maybe it would make sense to get it ahead of time then :)

Did you input Texas Service Center in the second field? The second field is National Benefits Center for cases in the first row (e.g. "K-1 fiancé(e) (and K-2 dependents) whose Form I-485 is based on an approved Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)") of the following link: https://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

Forget about I-485.. It's gonna take more than a little while. You're more than likely to receive the EAD/AP faster than Green Card, i'd say 90% get EAD/Ap before green card. My EAD/AP was just approved yesterday, my NOA1 was 01/31, so almost 6month. I don't think You'll make it imho. Atleast for november, unless you're lucky and you're among those lucky that are approved in 2-4 months, which is rare as well. But imo, don't buy anything until you have proper paperwork in your hands, USCIS rule #1.

We got approved and still waiting to have card in hand before we buy our tickets to visit her family back in Europe. JUST IN CASE something goes wrong, or there is a mistake on the card, etc. Unnecessary stress.

TL;DR optimistically, you have chances of getting EAD/AP earlier than November, realistically, it's more like Dec, even January. I-485 even later.

I filed about a month ago. My estimated time for completion for AP and EAD is January 12. This is independent of AOS which depends on the local office is doing the processing.

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

For another data point:
EAD + AP (I-765 + I-131) took about 4-4.5 months for us (just got it, so it's a recent data point). This was with an RFIE for the wrong tax documents sent in (although I managed to get that back to them within about 2 weeks, so not much time lost there).

The I-485 interview was scheduled around the same time as the EAD + AP was approved (but we're going through the Boston office, I think all the big California offices are much slower).

Regardless, as others have said, early November will likely not be possible. You might be able to do late November, but that's a huge gamble. Also keep in mind that USCIS workers will likely have all federal holidays off, of which there are likely many in the second half of the year (compared to the first half at least), which might slow things down a bit at times.

Thank you all! Yes, it seems early november seems pretty unlikely. Still, we will book the flights with the return option; so if it goes wrong, we will get the full price back, just to make sure. Even if it doesn't work, prices are just better right now, but I'll definitely be sure. Thanks!

Submit all the applications together!  As far as wanting to see your family in November, unless it was an actual emergency, I'm not sure that you would qualify for an expedite.

Luckily I was eligible to request for expedite, and my wife received her green cards within 6 months.  We are still waiting for the I-765 and I-131 to be done, but I know the green cards supersedes those now.
