Can someone please help me. I applied for B2 visitors visa last week and got rejected may be because I am a single mother and they thought I was looking for some opportunities in USA. Although I never had such intention in mind. Now I am getting a chance from my company to apply for B1 visa to attend a conference. What are my chances of approval?

This will come across as very suspect since only 1 week has passed since a denial. What are your strong ties to home? What evidence can you present that you will return after your visit?

At first glance it seems odd that the type of person at the kind of job level at which a company would send overseas for conferences, wasn’t deemed as having enough ties to home for a B visa just a week ago. So I have to ask, is it a family company or a small company?

Assuming the reason for denial was 214(b), you likely will get the same result for a B-1.

Not good tbh, considering you were just rejected for a NIV. 

Applying in quick succession to attend a conference could be seen as desperation to a CO.

B's are usually issued as combo's, B1/2.

I have a kid but I am a single mother. Also my job is the strongest tie as I am the only earning person in my family.

Getting a B visa (whether B1 or B2) depends on the applicant's ability to convince the consul officer of their strong ties to home, rather than their reason for wanting to visit the US.  Because your personal circumstances have probably not changed significantly since last week, you will likely be denied again.

 

That said, the only way to find out for sure is to apply.  Good luck and I hope you let us know how it goes.

The issue is the many others who have come to the US and either overstayed (hoping to meet somebody and become legal?) and/or work, then bring their children later. Unfortunately, others before you that have abused the process make it harder for legitimate individuals.

So what should be done now. Also I want to mention that I am applying with a group this time. We are 7 people going together for a conference.

Apply and find out.

The reason for traveling isn't really the concern. It's the reason to return.
