Came here legally. Want to work legally. Pay all their fees and give them everything they want and then wait half a year with no money. I guess I’ll get a second job 😞

Yes,  10 thousand  a month did the same!

its really 6 months until the EAD ? I thought was 90 days 😞

it's unfortunate you didn't research the visa first, but that has been the price to pay for k-1 for a while now.

Umm I knew all about the cr1 visa but I didn’t want to marry in Mexico.... how do u know I didn’t research? I did all this on my own no lawyer... I did plenty of research.

Way back when we began this the wait time was like 3 months.

Why leave condescending comments that offer no value? At least geowrians comment offers information for others who may see this....

And why post this? It offers no help you’re just being condescending....

i am in the same boat as you...not being condescending...just stating the facts.  anybody that has been dealing with immigration will tell you that it takes time and patience. this is a long process. i personally been there from moving to the US all the way to naturalization. it's never been quick.

aside...you don't need to read my post if you don't like them. welcome to an open forum. you are welcome for this opinion.

Info for future readers:

With the CR-1 you can marry anywhere (US, fiance's country, or somewhere else). Check out thread below:

Below is an analysis by @missileman:

Quote

This is my analysis of a K-1 vs a CR-1:

K-1

  • More expensive than CR-1
  • Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
  • Spouse can not leave the US until she receives approved Advance Parole (approx 3-4 months)
  • Spouse can not work until she receives EAD (approx 3-4 months)
  • Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period.
  • Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.

CR-1

  • Less expensive than K-1
  • No AOS required.
  • Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
  • Spouse can start work if desired
  • Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card withing 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
  • Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

All-in-all, the CR-1 is superior to the K-1 imo.

Since January 2017 the 90 day "rule" has been set to more of a goal. It's been processing slow for a good year now and it's not really getting any better.

Edit: Let me say that I get it that when you're doing everything the legal way, you hope this process goes quick. Not everybody here tries to be condescending but I rather have people to be upfront than sugarcoating. Sugarcoating won't help anyone immigration related. It's ain't a pretty process.

Not sure what an ASC appointment is. But the i765 is at 5-7 months now, and its slowing creeping up to near 8 months. That said plenty of people are getting interviews within 6 months now so...take it as what you will.

If you really want to work and can secure a job fairly fast, you can push for an expedite.

Biometrics are taken at Application Support Centers (ASC). You went to your local ASC on 2018-03-21.
