Green card expired in 2014 i filed i 751 and got extension of 1 year only

Yes i applied for i 751 now and got extension but for 18 months only from expiry date. I"m outside of US right now.

You were required to file for ROC in 2016 if you obtained the card in 2014. I'd be surprised if they haven't started removal proceedings by now if that's the case.

The extension letter extends the validity of the green card by 18 months now, meaning it would have then expired in 2017 or early 2018. So it's of no use to you. You can't even use it to board a plane to return to the US. You may be able to obtain a boarding foil at a consulate abroad, though.

But.. how? If your card expired in 2014?  How long have you been outside of the US?

The timeline here is very confusing. The GC expired in 2014... but you're saying the letter extends its validity by 18 months (but in your original post you say the extension was only for 1 year)? The 18-month extension letters just recently started (it was previously 1 year).. but how did you get one of those if the GC was expired in 2014? If you could spell out the timeline (including when you left the US) that may help us help you better.

Good point. If that's the case, then they definitely were outside the US for well over a year, which is going to be a major issue in itself...permanent residency would have been almost certainly abandoned.

The very latest valid date for your GC (even with an 18 month extension) would have been sometime in 2016........how long have you been outside the US?

Any extension letter extends the date from the expiration date on the card.......I think you have big problems.....You can't even travel to the US with that card and extension letter....even if you were able to board a plane, I think there would be a very high chance of being sent before an immigration judge when trying to enter the US.

What you should do next is come to terms with the fact that you are no longer a US permanent resident. You have given up that privilege.

I don't think the OP has a 10 yr GC since they applied for I-751(Removal of Conditions) which is only applied if they were here on a 2 yr conditional GC.

 

OP, your timeline is off. Can you please elaborate? 

 

I'm going to agree with Teemo, though, because it appears you have most likely abandoned your status in the US.

So....the math does not add up.

1. GC expired = 2014
2. Fast forward to 2yrs later = 2016
3. Applied for I-751 (RoC) and received 18mth extension = Expired 
4. You are outside the US currently
5. How would you re-enter the USA?
6. Did you ever follow-up with USCIS regarding this?
7. Which center did you file your RoC at?

OP would not be a 10-yr resident if they have filed to remove conditions.
