What I meant is that (from what I’ve heard) when you file for EAD along with AOS it’s cheaper than when you file for EAD separately, for example three months before filing for AOS. Does anyone know how much cheaper is it?

It is 410 dollar cheaper if you file them together. I'm sorry if my short answer was not clear.

Filing for AOS is 1140

Filing for EAD is 410 and AP is 660.

If you file EAD and AP at the same time as AOS there's no extra fee, just the 1140 from AOS

I understood that if you file for EAD and AP within three months of filing your AOS and add your NOA-1 from AOS you won't be charged a fee either, but I haven't verified that.

The worse thing that will happen is the Embassy will cancel your appointment and scold you. Then they will tell you what you need to do and then you complete their instructions. Here is a great person to ask for some help. She is a great VJ'r and has helped many. She is from Denmark. Get in touch with @Georgia16. Good luck.

Thank you so much! You're super helpful :)

Called the helpdesk again to help me with registering myself on the website to schedule an account. Got the same helpful guy as yesterday. Told him I had put in a request to delete my account but they had not done that yet, if he could help me delete it and then make a new account.

He deleted my account and then we set up to register again, going through the steps I already had when I first registered, and he came to the same schedule interview page I did. He then went ahead and tried to enter the NVC number and DS160 code and it told him again I was already in the system and could not be registered.

He told me I needed to send another email to the email address I used yesterday to 'escalate' the problem and to find out what is going on. I just did that.

I am so so tired. I just want to go home and cry.

Ohhh 😞 I’m so sorry!!! In this “game” there is joy, frustration, sadness, depression, anger....and sometimes just complete exhaustion. I can imagine I have not listedso many other emotions!! We would need pages and pages to list them all. 😢 I’m sorry this is happening to you. As my fiancé says, maybe you just need to walk away for a little and give yourself some “me time”. Then go back and it work on it. If you have done all you can, then it’s time to think about you! There is not anything else you can do. And while you are away taking care of you maybe it will be resolved or you will think of an idea (because we know our brains are always thinking about this crazy process) and who knows you may think of a solution. But the most important is to give a little attention to yourself. Can’t have you getting sick, hurt, or completely burnt out. Go home and take a nap 💕 when you wake up maybe the issue will be resolved. Courage!

Just a question that you may or may know. Why would someone file the I-485 without the EAD or AP (which filed together is free just as you have stated) and then follow it up days/weeks/months with the submission of the EAD and AP? It's not like they have to save any money in order to pay for it as it is free if combined.  I just don't get that. I'm just thinking out loud.

I don't know. I don't see any reason why you'd want to file them seperately. But people often forget things and might be reminded later that it was a possibility. Some people might not think they need one thinking theyll get the greencard soon, and after finding out it can take a year they file EAD an AP later? Just guessing.

Our case was received by NVC today.

NOA1 12/20/2017

NOA2 7/16/2018 (new website)

NOA2 7/13/2018 (paper copy)

NVC Receive (8/1/2018)

Hopefully the NVC case # in the next few days.  They actually said up to 8 weeks and to call back mid-September which is their standard canned speech but from Visa Journey I know it has typically only been taking a few days for fiancee visas.

My case has been listed as "Ready" since last Friday, and I tried sending packet 3 (without Montreal asking for it) on Monday. Today I received a response that says it "may still be at NVC or in Transit"...So why does it say "Ready" in their system (CEAC)? *sigh* Hoping to be able to schedule an interview before all the September dates run out...
