We were denied a Visitor Visa in The Gambia. He was working not volunteering, he had a signed letter from his company granting him a 1 month vacation. Still denied.

A 90 day visit, and he volunteers, and he is coming back for school when there are more superior schools in the US. Nope

Next, you said Nigeria is “way more” difficult than Ghana. No that is wrong stastics show a higher denial rate for Ghana. Also, if you look in the Regional Forum for Africa here on this site you will see hundreds of posts regarding denied Spousal Visas in Ghana and Reaffirmed Petitions.

My wife has never gotten a visitor visa no matter the ties.  He can try, but the odds are high that you guys will have to wait it out like most other couples.  I know this - trying and being denied won't affect his ongoing immigration case.

Just the way it is.  Good luck either way.

Getting a visitor visa through the Ghana embassy is incredibly difficult, especially for young people. There is a long history of young people traveling to America and not returning. Since you have already submitted your petition that makes it even more difficult because it’s some intent to immigrate. You can apply, but I would recommend saving the money and plan to travel back to Ghana instead. My husband tried to get one before we ever met in person and he was flat out denied. We knew then that the only way we would see each other was for me to travel there...which I did 5 times.

I have applied for a b1b2 visa for my husband last April due to complications I was having with my pregnancy and I felt I needed my husband here. Even with a letter from my doctor, he was denied. We even showed he was in his final year at college and will be back to complete his study and I will be coming back with him after I deliver since my parents live in Ghana but that made no difference. I waited it out, gave birth and filed for him since. We are still waiting. The problem is a lot of people have abused the system which makes it harder to get tourist visas now. Nobody knows what will happen. You can apply and submit the evidences of his return. In the long run it depends on them as to whether they will approve. Wish you the best!

Wow thank you for sharing!! Yea we haven't gone through with it just yet still exploring all options.

Is it just hard for B-1/B-2 to the States or is this to all countries??? I've heard of people actually moving to a different country then applying for US visa from there and coming over.

I think this has to do with the embassy in Ghana. It’s just a tough embassy to get through. The high fraud alert on Ghana is catching up with other embassies as well. People have moved to less tough countries but that is hard to because you have to prove residency and employment as well. US is just a difficult country to get visa to because of the possibility of people overstaying and not going back home when their visa expires. Terrorist threats don’t make it easier either.

Is B1/B2 visa application considered as a petition? There is a question on the I-130 forms which asks if someone has ever filed a petition for your spouse....
