Met in World of Warcraft now applying for K1 Visa - Help!

Hello all,

 

First off I met my now fiance in World of Warcraft 9 years ago. We were friends for years and now have become engaged after meeting in person a few times.

 

We now are applying for a K1 Visa through Rapidvisa.com and they are saying we need paperwork that states that World of Warcraft is exempt from IMBRA (International Marriage Broker Regulation Act)

 

However, when trying to contact World of Warcraft/Blizzard's legal we have received no responses. Has anyone else dealt with this or have solutions or the best way to contact them??

 

Any help with this process would be greatly appreciated!!

Oh dear...this thread caught my eye and now I'm worried.

 

My USC and I met on Xbox playing video games. It's not a website, rather a gaming platform, but I wonder if that makes any difference.

 

In any case, we didn't use Rapid Visa or a lawyer and never thought about anything to do with IMBLA. Therefore, we didn't think to submit anything about that with our petition.

 

Should we prepare for an RFE about this?  Would Microsoft's Xbox Live TOS suffice for this purpose as well, if necessary?

The only reason this is even coming up is because you are paying for rapidvisa.  Lots of people have met through online gaming.  If you were filling out the form yourself, you'd just write "We met playing an online multi-player game, World of Warcraft."

As Nola said, it's a rapid visa thing. The USCIS knows what WoW is and this will be a non-issue for them. I myself met my husband playing an mmo game called wartune and never had to provide anything regarding their TOS, simply explained how we met in the letter we wrote as part of the application. We also did the entire process ourselves and had no issues with this.

 

I see no benefit in using Rapidvisa personally as you are doing 90% of the work as it is since you have to gather and provide all the documentation and info. but to each their own. Good luck on your immigration journey.

I wouldn't worry too much! We met through Instagram, I was an Influencer and my now USC-Spouse stumbled upon my profile. We explained this in a letter when sending in my K1 application, and I was asked "How did we meet each other" at the Interview in Germany, but the officer didn't have an issue with that at all. 

I never thought about sending in the ToS, EULA or Privacy Policy to be honest, so I'm glad this was never an issue.

I wouldn't worry about WoW too much. My fiance and I met in Second Life and we never got an RFE for that. In fact lol one of my questions at the interview was, What is Second Life?, and then she said oh that sounds interesting. ha I also play WoW. :)

If not for you fine people on this website, my poor USC would be worn out listening to all my worries. :P But he doesn't even hear about most of them, thanks to you all.

 

No idea how he manages to never worry about all this. He's not happy about the delay, but he's confident that it will happen and that there will be no problems.
