Hello,

I'm a 27 years old Syrian citizen, I'd like to know whether it's possible or not for an American citizen living abroad in the same country where I live, whether it's possible for her to adopt me as her son, I need to know all the steps, expected time, possible or not, and the expenses.

She can adopt you but you are not getting a visa that way

you are to old. If older people could get a visa just by being adopted everyone will try to do that

I am not so sure presumably that would depend on the laws in Turkey and I have no idea if that would be allowed.

Thursday July 11: I had my Naturalization Interview

Thursday July 11: A few hours later updated to show Oath Ceremony will be Scheduled

Friday July 12: Oath Ceremony Notice was mailed

Monday July 22: Oath Ceremony

Wednesday July 24: Certificare of Naturalization was mailed

OP I'm so sorry for what has become of your home country. Someone mentioned you are in Turkey, if that is the case, you are at least safe. Your latest thought of how to get to the USA is not going to work. I'm sorry if you are feeling desperate to get to the USA, it's not the answer. I met many Syrians in my several visits to Turkey over the years (so many the last time I was there, but all wonderful people). Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your sympathy, generally people don't feel or appreciate the situation of others, they'r laghing and mocking my situation, I wish that no one of you face what I've face in my life. Americans are not stupid to be used for immigration purposes, all the story is that she really consider me as her son, it's not a lie people. You just don't understand and you've never traveled abroad and never seen disasters and wars!. Most of you are not originally Americans, how did you travel to the US?, you came from you Europe where there is no war, some of you came from different places, why don't you just go back to your home country if it's that safe?. It's a pitty that somebody looking for my threads history rather than trying to help, I mentioned that I'm Syrian for you to know that I can't go back to my country and I'm in a bad situation, I don't live in switzerland!.

Thank you brother, Yes I could stay in Turkey but it's not allowing us to work legally and the opposition is shouting to get us out of the country, over 1.5 million Syrian in Turkey, while EU is letting them drown in the ocean!.

Who said I don't wish to go back to Syria?, I just have difficult situation, if you'd like to help good, if not, just don't waste your and my time.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
