After all the hooplah that went into getting her back, it would be a shame if she was. But I wouldn't doubt it, she did post the content of a mods pm.

I'm now 27 years old!

My husband took a day off earlier to present his birthday surprise. He was babysitting the little dude while I enjoyed indoor skydiving. He knows I'm not into very girly stuff like jewelry, purses, flowers, and whatnot. I like fun experiences. After the baby was born, I decided to give up my wish to sign up for real skydiving and riding on a hot air balloon so the vertical wind tunnel is the closest and safest thing I could do.

I don't think so. Penny account is still alive.

I haven't seen Penny post. I enjoyed it a lot when she and Maven used to visit the upper forums.

Old a$$. Who will want you now?

Just kidding, Happy Birthday! You're still quite young. A lot of folks say thirty will hit you pretty hard. It didn't bother me really and now a few years later, I'm in the best shape of my life.

I've never been indoor (or out door for that matter) sky diving. It seems like it would be good fun. Maybe somewhere like driving go karts on the fun meter?

I haven't seen Penny either but I know she posted at least once after the "incident" Hopefully its a voluntary break.

I never understood the point of skydiving. Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?

Thanks, G. I'm no beauty queen but I'm not insecure when it comes to my looks.

I haven't tried Go Kart Racing but I might. I've done Discover Scuba once and I'm working on my swimming skills so I could do PADI OW and AOW certifications the next time we visit SE Asia.

On a more serious note, the only thing that concerns me most about growing old is my career.

Do you understand why a mid-20's guy would want to hook up with a mid-50's woman?

I always thought you were a cutie.

Maybe some of the younger guys like more mature women? Just a guess. Or maybe they remind him of his mother? :o

Side note, we've got some guys in from Mexico today that have set up shop. There was a fire at a sister plant in Mexico so they're here to use some of our facilities. Google translate is the savior of the day!

I was in Ojinaga, Mexico (google it) a couple of months ago, and I knew more Spanish than many of the residents knew English -- a frightening thought in terms of communicating, given my "pidgin-only" capabilities. I had a couple of mechanical issues with the first motel rooms. Neither of the night guys in the office knew a word of English, and my limited vocabulary + poor artwork + vague hand-signals failed. Fortunately, there was a public computer in the office, so I pulled up Google Translate, and we got the points across.

---

Even cooler: I visited a bloodwork laboratory in Ojinaga one morn. The young lab guy there didn't know a word of English. He had another customer (who spoke some English) tell me to show up no later than 1 p.m. for the lab results. As I was leaving, a computer consultant came in.

When I came back, the lab guy had a computer program set up so that he could type in Spanish and it would "speak" in translated English. This worked quite well, and his use of it was very thoughtful on his part. His getting this program might have been in the works for a while, but I thanked him as profusely as if he'd done it just for me.

FTR, the cheerio scenario is what the "angry comment" stuff is to address. Its to point out that, in many cases, people come here with existing anger and then spew it all over everyone, ruining any type of logical debate or good times, often while being completely dismissive and insulting of another group of people. While the cheerio comment was directed at one user initially, I think it relates to many different users doing the same thing.

Harpa, you mentioned you didn't like the agenda posting of articles and neither do it. Look at a couple of article posts today that are done completely in this fashion along with a few user added comments meant to demean and belittle the opposition to said agenda. I'm not trying to police it, just point it out. NB got what I was going for when he said we shouldn't have to settle with this type of thread crashing.

I hope I'm not crossing the line by saying putting this in this thread. If you guys think it's in bad taste just report it and ask it be taken down. Mods, please remove this post if reported.

Thoughtful point. In these instances, what would be your solution to calming things down?
