We're all supposedly adults. The rules are there for everyone to see (apart from the super-secret rules of sublime nebulosity, used to cover non-infraction infractions), so people have a fair idea when they have transgressed. If a poster refuses to apply self-control, or purposely transgresses to provoke a reaction, why should we hold their hand?
