They asked a bunch if questions that even they didn't know the answer to, like the first couple you mentioned about your personal life. Looks to me like they were convinced your relationship is a fraud and were going to deny you anyways unless your husband proved otherwise

Personally, I don't think the marriage is fraud. It just so happens, she married on her first visit and never went back after getting married. In morocco, meeting in person, then getting married so soon after meeting, just dosent sit well with the consulate.

IMO, that decision, to 'shift the questioning that-a-way',

stems from something in the casefile, or even missing from the casefile.

Something like that, probably. Other possibilities are that the list of questions actually asked is either incomplete or inaccurate. The direction an interview takes at the beginning is based on what's in the file. Where it goes from there tends to depend on the "answers" to the early questions. Without a complete transcript (close as possible from memory) of the interview, our speculation is highly unreliable.

so sorry! I have learned a lot from VJ interview reviews since my membership last year. I had to know my home to work distance after i saw someone was asked same and made my husband know it also. I read out people's interview questions to him and ask him to respond it was about us.....now we are goint to add the "friends" thing.You just never know.

For example,when my now wife went for her interview the CO told her that they have evidence that I was still living with my ex. Her response was a definite "no way". She lives in New Jersey and I live in New York. He lives alone with his dog Tasha. That was enough to get her visa.

For you. " how many friends does she have"? I don't know. But her closest friends are Mary and Jane.

" how many miles does she travel to work"? I don't know. But she has to get up at 6AM, take a train, and needs to be at work at 9AM.

"what day did you tell her you loved her". Don't not really remember the day, but we were in the park and we sat down on a bench and there was something magical in her eyes and...." ( basically recalling the event )

Understand? It may not be the exact answer but it shows that both of you have been communicating and beginning to know each others life and have shared many things. That is their main concern. Just my 2 cents.

I understand the stress but an Interview is a test and there are so many ways they will try to intimidate you to see if you fall.

My AOS Interview took 10 minutes and the agent said: So, how did you meet him (my husband)? I explained in a simple sentence. Then she rolled her hand asking to tell more. In my mind I was like.. I answered your question and that's how I met him. I kept explaining our relationship history until we got married.

Then the agent asked my husband for proof of income (since he came as F1 Visa and overstayed for 3 years) with the original Western Union receipts. He was asked if he could provide it for the last two years. He said: "Yes I can provide it. I might not have all but I can send you what I have."

The agent told us she would review the case and she would send an RFE. Same night we got email for approval.

My point with this is that even if they make you feel you are doing something wrong, you just need to go with what you have, as you have it. Simple.

Have some Bona-fides documents explaining how your relative knows you. It has to be notarized. Hope this helps

Read about how to respond to questions from USCIS. I learned that if you don't know something, you must state it as it is "I don't know" "I don't remember"

My AOS and I-130 took from December 15th 2011 until December 3rd, 2012.

Sent to Chicago, tranfer to California, transfer to Misouri, then Interview was assigned.

Good grief. My nightly online "dates" with my then-fiance for the last couple of months before the interview consisted of going over 10 or so questions on the list I had compiled of every interview question I could find. He was well prepared for his interview, but if any of these questions had been asked, he'd probably have bombed.

For the armchair quarterbacks who are suggesting to turn the question and answer in another way, we all know how much easier it is to think sharply and quick when are are not so nervous and probably sleep-deprived, as well. I agree that the interviewer had probably already decided and asked questions that were mostly unanswerable by normal people in that situation.

I would not have been able to answer these questions as they were asked and I doubt my sweet beloved would have been able to, either. After being married since April, the only one he could answer is the distance to my job--only because he has walked it. Before being here, there is absolutely no way.

It doesn't take much for me to think quickly when I really want something. Not bragging, just stating what I actually think.

You don't think so, but I have driven my wife to work a bunch of times and I still guessed wrong when I put it into Google Maps. I thought 2 miles at the most. It was 5.

Also, I'm sure you don't even know how many friends you have. You would have to take time to count them by name and even then there will be people you are missing. These questions were worded inappropriately. Do they want to know how many acquaintances? How many close friends? How many friends that used to be close but now they only talk on facebook? I suppose if you start naming them off you could count them that way. But I don't know of anyone who tells their spouse how many friends they a actually have. I've been married for 3.5 years and I still don't know all of my wife's friends. I know there are some people at work she hangs out with. I know a few of their names because we hang out too. But my wife hasn't mentioned all of their names. I'm sure I'll meet them later on when I go and see her at her school if she needs me there for whatever reason.

Yeah, it does sound pretty braggy.

I am guessing that you have PERFECT internet signal and access and free calling to be able to even have the time to have enough talk-time to get this information. I can absolutely tell you that I know very little about my sisters-in-law's actual lives. They don't speak any English whatsoever--including the one that has lived in my own country for more than 5 years. Your situation is beyond unusual to have so many details about so many people that you don't actually interact with in real-life. (Include the one the visa is for--it appears that most folks here have less than 2 months actual real-life time with their beloveds--and that time was in a vacation or non-normal-routine-days. For me, I had 6 actual weeks with my now-husband--2 trips to his country. We traveled for 1/2 of that so I didn't get time to meet many of his friends and still can't remember more than 2 of their names now.)

Many folks have less than easy times having good contact or the ability to talk live can be sketchy very often. If my husband didn't come from a major city in his country (where the internet signal/Skype ability exists), it is very unlikely we would have as close a relationship as we do, simply due to that access.

From reading the numerous other posts from frustrated people here, I always thought our own communication access/abilities were better than average.

if I were you and I could afford it I would get a lawyer and sue them. .

I didnt vetted this advise with anyone. a decision has to be made wether to proceed with groveling with embassy to get a visa. she has the opportunity to consult a lawyer. if she can afford one its not waste of time.

Cutting through the self-righteousness of these posts, consulting a lawyer to sue the State Department over a denied visa is a waste of time. CO's by law are granted discretion on how to conduct visa interviews. Any lawyer with any decency would advise that such an action was highly unlikely to be successful.
