Question about age with K-1

Hello,

I am a US citizen wishing to start the K-1 fiance visa process for my fiance & I, but I have a question. I am 5 years older than him & am wondering if that'll affect our processing at all. I'm 24, and he's 19.

Please don't judge me about our age difference because that's quite frankly our business. My question is if that could be a reason to not be approved.

Depending on the culture of the country your beau is from it could trigger an eyebrow response. Better list it as a red flag if that isn't the cultural norm of his country.

I don't know the norms there but it probably isn't too common a practice. Be on the safe side and list it and why, if a norm, doesn't apply to you. In some patriarchal societies, a woman being even a year older, isn't the norm. A CO should not (notice I said should not) deny you for something that USCIS already saw and adjudicated. Go over all the non standard issues of your case and look at it in totality, step out of the love, and when looking at your relationship vs immigration fraud/ national security, would you approve you? If not, list and describe all the cultural abnormalities that would make you suspicious. For example, do you have kids and is it the norm of a Saudi man to date a woman with children? Age difference? religious differences? Are you the same ethnicity? Even a tolerable ethnicity for that culture? Are you below the poverty line? Is he mega rich? etc. Those kinds of things. It would also be helpful for you to complete the info entered in your profile as questions like these can be embassy specific. Factors such as cultural norm, child bearing, etc are key to the impact of older woman/younger men relationships.

That is a TINY age gap. We have people on here with 30+ year age gaps. That can make a difference but yours, no. I'm 4 years older than my husband. My daughter's father was 10 years older than me.

You are both still young, that age difference isn't going to have an effect on child bearing, and things of that sort. I wouldn't even mention it. I'm sure you'll be fine.

at the interview they highlighted our age gap. We both are matured and hubby is 18 years elder than me.

It will make a difference because people in SA usually do not marry a woman older than them so your fiance will have tough time convincing the IO.Do not listen to the people telling you that it is not gonna be a problem.Prepare yourself in advance rather than feeling sorry later.Determine the red flags in your case and work on them before Interview.Prepare him well.

Just had my interview. He is 18 years older then me and it wasn't mentioned at all ... You are still very young and it's a tiny gab I wouldn't worry about it even from SA and you being female and the older one

I belive if your span is you were both in highschool at the same time its not an age difference...

Its not like she can be his mom...its 5 year or 4 and some months...

It really shouldn't be a problem; however, it is country specific with what the cultural norm is and SA does have some particular nuances that other countries don't. Just be prepared and read up on that countries embassy. You may want to join the thread for that embassy and ask questions there from those who have gone before you.

compared to some of the outrage age gaps ive seen 5 years is nothing to worry about , and once you post in a forum ppl will judge automatically so might as well get used to it as i said 5 years is no worry =)
