I wish we had data regarding the number of expedite requests submitted versus the number of approved expedites.  That data might give some useful info.....

I think a lot of the old-timers here get weary of seeing people fabricating flimsy excuses for expedite requests, simply because they do not want to wait in the queue with everyone else.
 
And if you think about it, yes it is "free", but it is not free to the overall processing timeline in terms of the use of DOS/USCIS resources, as all of those requests must be vetted by actual workers.
 
If all expedites were legit and approved, the queue would be exactly the same as it is with no expedites at all.

I know I am an essential worker but then 70% of the US workforce is.
 
In Colorado that includes Pot workers.

@David and Anna agreed, I should have clarified - certainly we don't know the details and can't judge how good their medical documentation is. I meant to say, I am sure that USCIS / DOS look at the quality of the documentation before granting expedites.
 
My opinion is, frivolous expedite requests hurt everybody because someone in USCIS / DOS has to spend time that could have been better spent processing legitimate expedite requests / otherwise normal workload. But I agree, if someone believes they have a valid reason to expedite, they should certainly try.

Tell that to the people who have been waiting in the K-1 process since early 2020.......They might have a different opinion.   But you are correct in that there is no cost in legally applying for an expedite.

Yep.  There are people who have been waiting a lot longer than August.  Everyone thinks THEIR case should be moved to the front of the queue ahead of those who have been waiting patiently. 

Great.  Make stuff up.  DOS loves it when people do that.

From what I gathered so far, it is pretty much pure luck.  If you can come up with a sad story, essential workers, mental distress, physical health distress, whatever, just try to submit the request.  The request itself is free.    

Good news! My NVC case got updated to In Transit today  Praise the Lord! 

Bear in mind that the question isn't 'do you intend to support'...it's 'do you intend to make specific contributions'. Ie, like a weekly wage for example. 
 
Realistically, as a K1, the answer almost certainly isn't yes. We ticked 'do not intend' and wrote 'N/A - K1'. However, I don't think it's massively important which one you tick, as long as you write the explanation next to it.

It's good news in that we are now considered important (finally!), but the key is that it still depends on local COVID conditions. I would be interested in how that goes. I saw you applied in late Oct...honestly there are still applicants waiting from 2019. It's still great to think about others who have been waiting for over a year already and not be disappointed in this progress...

When I sent this request, only I received the response to this request even though I cc'd my fiance. He was only notified when NVC sent our app to the embassy 

So much for the "a baby doesn't mean anything, it only means you had sex!!" theory floating around VJ.

Congratulations on the baby and approval! Which office did you take the interview? Have you taken the biometrics already? We are yet to receive biometrics (MSC Jun2020 filer) as the local office is Ny/Nj is my guess.

This was in response to a lawsuit filed against Dept of State yesterday (or maybe just coincidence...)
Given how consulates provided blanket NIEs to students, I think they'll do the same to K-1 applicants.

And since it doesn't really apply to K-1s, it doesn't actually matter what you answer.

Ah congrats to you! when my fiane got that goofy huge envelope he has been protecting it like a golden egg. He flies out this Friday April 9th to chicago, golden egg in hand! Cheers! also if you still have to take a covid test by the time you travel Do Not use Halo verify, they screwed us terribly and we had to pay for a second test.  be careful!

Explained that in our cover letter - K1 visa because it is the fastest a couple can be together and we don't want a long distance marriage. My parents are cool with all this, have photos together with family that I am submitting with 221g. 

USCIS lost page 5, so they want me to fill it out again, NVC couldn't process it and uscis must've lost it,thanks for your help and all your feedback.

I suggest you arrange for a sitter.

I was missing a document for the interview i had on the 23rd of march, and so was approved but received a 221g refusal until I sent the document in. They received it on Monday the 29th, and my case status changed from refused to administrative processing on the Tuesday. Then today, the 1st of April, my status now says issued:) this is london embassy btw
