  1. Does you current income meet the requirements for sponsorship?
  2. The status of my I-765 showed “Case Actively reviewed” for about 5 months after I received my GC.
  3. Very relatable. My saving grace was that NY allows you to get a driver license regardless of your immigration status so I had a bit of freedom if I had to, let’s say, get groceries without waiting for husband to get back from work to drive me. There’s no reliable public transportation like in big cities where we live. However, it still took 3 months to get everything sorted (buying a car, getting a learner permit then the DL) and in those 3 months I was 100% dependent on my husband and his schedule. I literally couldn’t leave my house to buy a loaf of bread without my husband. It sucked. Some days he was very tired after work and he didn’t want to do much while I was dying to get out of the house.
  4. Different counties in a state might also have different required documents. Our county requested my birth certificate with a certified translation which I had so it wasn’t a problem, I remember looking in a county over and they didn’t have that requirement.
  5. When it comes to minor children, all are counted in the household size regardless of where they live or whether or not they’re claimed on taxes.

  7. ~~ Above post was split into its own thread. Please do not ask your own questions in other members threads ~~ Medical exam taking place after the interview happens often. After you attend the interview, your case will simply be put on hold pending medical results.
  8. ~~ Another hijack post removed. Do not post your own questions in other members threads- this constitutes spamming the forums and repeated violations will result in admin action ~~
  9. I have split your post into a separate thread as we do not allow asking own questions in other members threads, it’s always better to start your own. Probably a few days if everything goes smooth. Online at https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee/
  10. ~~ Threads on related subjects merged. Do not start several threads asking either same or related questions; keep all follow up questions on NVC/DS-260/civil documents in this thread only ~~ You complete everything together.
  11. You’re only required to present the most recent year. Just no note that tax transcripts are not evidence of current income. You need an employment letter and/or pay stubs to demonstrate current income.

  14. ~~ topic moved from K1 forum to US Consulates and embassy discussion ~~ I assume all US consulates follow very similar security procedures. When I went to the interview, you had to put your bag through the scanner (plus walk through metal detectors) and they asked if you have any electronics. My consulate had storage where you could leave your stuff but it looks like Bogota doesn’t.
  15. ~~ Topic moved to Regional discussion: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus where transfer cases to Almaty are discussed ~~ I think it would be much easier to get the medical done in Almaty so the results are sent to the consulate faster. The medical office is a local clinic so they speak Russian. You can also request the interview to be in Russian, some consular officers speak very fluent Russian and I heard it first hand. They will not let petitioners inside. You don’t need to worry about doctor offices or any other places for that matter, virtually everyone knows Russian in Kazakhstan. Yes The best area/neighborhood in my opinion would be Zolotoy Kvadrat, it’s essentially the city center/downtown area. If they have a valid Schengen visa, there’s no issue. You can travel anywhere you want as long as you enter the US before the visa expires. After the visa is issued you have to pay the $220 fee for it to be printed. https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee/
