  1. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. Please do not start multiple threads pertaining to same or related questions/topics as that’s considered spamming ~~ You can look up processing time for your local field office on USCIS.gov.
  2. ~~ Topic moved to Tourist visa forum as the question is about a tourist visa to the US ~~ That’s the most common reason for denying a visitor visa. Happens very often
  3. ~~ Topic moved from Student visa forum to Tourist visa forum as OP indicated “visiting” ~~ They will probably ask why you’re applying for a visitor visa when you’re eligible for VWP
  4. When I do desktop search and put in key words I get more relevant threads that are specific to those search terms. When I search on a mobile browser, it gives me a lot of “random” threads that don’t really have to do with what I’m searching. I end up using the Google powered search instead; maybe I am missing something and there’s a better way to search. I’ll poke around
  5. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. Please do not create several new threads for the same or related topic (biometrics) as that’s considered spamming the forums ~~
  6. It doesn’t but there’s the OCI program. Its possible they won’t require a police certificate for her. If they do, then I’d add a letter explaining why she wouldn’t need one and attaching any relevant documents to support it.
  7. Does she still have Indian citizenship? If yes, then according to what I quoted, she will need a police certificate from India. Police certificates are required for any place you’ve lived for a year or more after 16 years of age.
  8. Not possible. Again, not possible. For that you need an immigrant visa to enter the US with an intent to live here permanently. You need file the regular way for a IR1 visa for consular processing, will take about 18-24 months, after which you can enter US as a Lawful permanent resident and work/travel right away. If you qualify, look into DCF for faster processing. You’ll need an exceptional circumstance, most common is an imminent relocation of the US citizen for a job (need an offer letter as proof).
  9. Yes, you can adjust since you’re in the US now and didn’t have an intent to adjust. You seem to be aware about not being able to work or travel and depending on the state - drive (you’d be considered a resident of the state so can’t use DL form back home). Lack of SSN also entails difficulties opening bank accounts, signing up for health insurance, etc. I’ve gone through this (K1 though) but luckily I had an SSN already and I could get a drivers license here in NY so that was great.
  10. Yes, I agree. I think I’ve brought it up before too, the mobile search is completely off. I’ve had luck with desktop browser search on VJ, that helped me immensely when I was looking for answers.
  11. ~~ Topic moved from CR1/IR1 spousal visa forum to Bringing family members of Permanent residents to America forum as the petitioner is an LPR ~~
  12. That is in issue and you have an intent to immigrate through AOS which is immigration fraud. If you leave your only option is F2A visa through consular processing.

  17. Not a lot known on how it’s processed. Not possible to expedite.
  18. It can take weeks, months or years. There is no reliable estimate. You can ask for your passport back if you need it for travel.

  20. I think family trumps employment, although I’d love to see numbers (they’re probably available somewhere, just didn’t dive into that), premium processing would be a temporary bandaid solution for a wound that needs a complex surgery.
  21. My husband literally created an IRS account and it was available there, he didn’t complete any forms. Yes, most recent one is mandatory.
  22. A click of a button where it downloads directly to your device.
  23. ~~ Topic moved from CR1/IR1 spousal visa forum to US citizenship General discussion, this is concerning N-400, not CR1/IR1 ~~
