Hey vj family, went to my i485 interview today. The officer just asked me my name and name of my ex wife and yes/no question.
i didn’t get vaccinated because I am allergic to all vaccines and my doctor was ok with that and did my medical like that and found out I didn’t need vaccines for hepatitis b and measles because my body is immune. So got 0 vaccine. The officer was nice and check my medicals to be ok. And said I will expect the decision in 2 weeks.

Reminder : I was in removal proceedings in court because of asylum since 2016
    December 2017 filed i130
October 2019 filed i360 after divorce
november 2020: filed i485 in court and another copy sent to USCIS Irving Texas.
March 2021: got 204c fraud on my i130
november 2021: got NOID on i360 because of that 204c.
    january 2022 responded to NOID
    February 2022: i360 approved
March 2022 :my lawyer filed motion to terminate proceedings in court and same month motion terminated by judge.
-May 2022 my lawyer wrote a letter to my local office to schedule me for interview and attached copy of i485 and i360 approval and letter of judge terminating my proceedings
-July 2022 got interview letter i485 but the status online didn’t change at all and today interview that was easy and officer was nice

    Re-apply.

My case was denied when I used an Attorney and approved when I re-applied on my own. 😀 The Attorney wasted my time. Finding a good VAWA attorney is hard. Most of them move files and act as a middle man with no strategic benefit whatsoever.

What I did differently: took two weeks to read my declaration from the lens of an outsider/critic looking for loopholes, and found many. Then I took my time to re-write it in my own words, raw emotions, showing my vulnerability through that experience, etc.

Its not over. Time has passed. Years have gone by but I didn’t stop living my life to the fullest. Count your blessings and try again.

Feel free to reach out if you need a second look at your declaration. I’m inconsistent with this forum but can help. Good luck.

Don’t feel discouraged quite yet. Vawa still has relatively high chances of approval, imho.
in addition, you never know why the cases have been denied. Maybe they have been withdrawn/abandoned? Maybe an applicant decided to get married and file through their new spouse? Maybe their marriage was ridiculously fake? You never know.

based on my personal experience, here is my advice that no one asked for: please, do NOT purposely look up denied cases, since this will make you overthink and stress out like crazy for no reason. Of course it’s good to know which mistakes not to make, but don’t focus on this too much, please. Not worth it.

My attorney explained to me that in some states (I think where there are "no fault" grounds for divorce), it is enough that one party requests divorcing... Good luck!

Hello Maria! I have a business (opened after I got separated to my husband) and still married.
I inquired with several lawyers in those years and while there is a possibility that he could ask for half of it, they all highly doubt that he will ever wants to go down that road. Especially because the home abuse case (which was the reason why we got separated) and the financial abuse.

Definitely an agreement is necessary during the divorce process - I don’t want anything from my husband and I will request the same before any final court steps. The law say you have to share unless another agreement is in place. Does her husband eventually wants to go into a contested divorce? Does he have the money? Time? Energy?
Not sharing information is also a key. Let your friend know to not share any assets values or investment values with him or his lawyer. Let’s make hard for them understand if there is anything worth money connected with your friend.

My company has grown since than and I can tell you I’m not scared about what would possibly happen in divorce process but I also have the weapons to fight in case he wants to play dirty (capital and a good lawyer) things that my husband doesn’t have.

as always, the best answer come from experienced lawyers. If your friend is serious about getting into business in the healthiest way possibile, tell her to invest some money in lawyers consultation and take this as first investment for their entrepreneurial journey.

Since it was a short amount of time try to focus on the knowing part of "knowing and willful" https://www.finaid.org/students/selectiveservice.phtml
"Knowing. Was the student aware of the requirement to register or not? If the student knew about the requirement to register, was he misinformed about the applicability of the requirement to him (e.g., veterans who were discharged before their 26th birthday were occasionally told that they did not need to register)? On which date did the student first learn that he was required to register? Where did the student live when he was between the ages of 18 and 26? Does the status information letter indicate that Selective Service sent letters to the student and did not receive a response?" The last sentence alludes that getting a status information letter from Selective Service System can benefit you if it doesn't have such indication.

Be prepared. The financial aid administrator might cite the fact that SSS runs ads in different places.

Today I cried tears Of grief because I have a special needs child who was out of control and I was so saddened and devastated.
Shortly after, I received a text that my VAWA was approved. I am so grateful to Allah! I filed in January 2019. No RFE
I wish all of you the same happiness. This isn’t real.
question: while my green card application is pending, can I travel with just VAWA? Like by applying for advanced parole or something ?

I posted a response about this to someone else with the same concern a page or two back, try to go back and find it. The bottom line is 485 rarely gets denied. The hard part is getting the 360 approval. Unless you have a criminal record or have fake or fraudulent ID documents you dont have anything to worry about with the 485. Are you a drug trafficker? smuggler? terrorist? Of course not! The 485 is simply a form you fill out to have a greencard issued. You have to be eligible to file it- you are eligible, you have an approved 360. They dont go back and re-evaluate your 360. They simply confirm you are eligible (you have an approved 360) and confirm all your ID and background checks. There is no public charge determination for VAWA applicants. So again there has to be a specific reason why you are not eligible to adjust status and it would be a serious thing like you are a criminal or using false ID documents.

Therapy can help with dealing with irrational fears. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be helpful. Basically its consciously changing your thought patterns and behaviors. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that can help you deal with stress. Its commonly known as 'mindfulness'. I also personally use EFT -emotional freedom technique which is also known as 'tapping'. Its very quick and easy to do- a combination of breathing and tapping on pressure points. It can help prevent panic attacks. You can find self help on all of the above with google but if you need me to I can PM you some resources.
