  1. OMG!! Such disappointing response from her but don’t worry. You got this. My initial VAWA application was denied with an attorney. I didn’t give up a filed on my own and got the green card myself. It took 5 years!! I’m glad you’re getting all the support you need here. I’m confident that you’ll celebrate in the end. I sincerely wish you success. You’ll be victorious.
  2. Filing PERM is better than H-1B dear (if this option is available). Best advice that no one gave me: Try to get into any company that sponsors GC on day 1 assuming you have a current EAD - Meta, Google, Amazon, etc. I knew this too late and when I got in, they filed my GC while I worked on my VAWA case separately. Basically, I had two petitions at the same time. They also provide attorneys at no cost that helps tremendously.
  3. Is anyone familiar with the process to request a return of documents from USCIS? As a former United Nations employee, there’re certain waivers that was attached to my original marriage petition in 2017. Filed 360 in 2018 VAWA was approved in 2022 Responded to the RFE for medical since November. Wondering why it’s stuck in this phase after I’ve relinquished all diplomatic rights since 2017. How so I request a return of I-508/I-566? These are immigration documents signed and stamped by the UN and country of origin.
  4. Prayer never fails. Include fasting if possible. Maybe they wanna schedule an interview instead of direct approval with medical. Don’t be discouraged. You got this!
  5. I received RFE for medicals after Vawa approval and sent the complete package last month. I just received an update for “initial review” and case has been transferred to to another USCIS office with jurisdiction over my case. Has anyone experienced something similar?
  6. Sorry this happened to you. I emphasize with your situation having experienced the same disappointment with a half-baked attorney. Let’s thank God for your I-360 approval. It could have been worse with the interrogation. You can always get a replacement card. I should have been a citizen by now. My VAWA filed with an attorney was denied in 2017. I decided to file a new application on my own in 2018 and got it approved. They said I owe $6,000 in attorney fees for no guidance, no direction, didn’t review my declaration … I’d rather die, be born again and jailed for life before paying that money.
  7. Congrats on your approval. It might not be the mandamus cos Newark has been getting lots of traction. My 2018 case is also with the Newark office. Looks like they finally woke up from a long nap lol 😂
  8. Wishing you success with this bold step. 👏🏼 Hope you receive celebratory news. 🎉
  9. Same Newark pending since Feb 2022 i360 approval. I relocated to a different state and it delayed my case by over a year. Scared to move again. Otherwise, I don’t mind living in Wyoming or Alaska to get a speedy approval.
  10. I called this number and the representative won’t discuss my case over the phone. I was advised that writing to USCIS is the only way to expedite my pending I-485 case or obtain status. Has anyone successfully spoken to a Tier 1 or 2 rep over the phone? Which prompt did you select to inquire about a case that’s out of normal processing time? I’ve submitted two e-service request online within the last 4 months with no update from USCIS.
  11. Thanks! I’ll give them a call on Monday. I-31 approved in Sept VAWA approval letter sent in Feb (5 months to notify me). RFE for medical in April. My timeline is a bit stretched out compared to most cases shared here. I submitted two out of processing time requests and both numbers end in VSC 😳
  12. Can anyone please share the number and steps for infopass or USCIS customer service for VAWA? A number that you tried as it worked. Google shows different numbers and I’m not sure how to speak with a rep. VAWA approved in Feb while I-485 is still in Vermont 6 months later.
  13. Re-apply. My case was denied when I used an Attorney and approved when I re-applied on my own. 😀 The Attorney wasted my time. Finding a good VAWA attorney is hard. Most of them move files and act as a middle man with no strategic benefit whatsoever. What I did differently: took two weeks to read my declaration from the lens of an outsider/critic looking for loopholes, and found many. Then I took my time to re-write it in my own words, raw emotions, showing my vulnerability through that experience, etc. Its not over. Time has passed. Years have gone by but I didn’t stop living my life to the fullest. Count your blessings and try again. Feel free to reach out if you need a second look at your declaration. I’m inconsistent with this forum but can help. Good luck.
  14. Same here - approved February 2022. Filed a service request last week and my file is still in Vermont. Whew!! I’ve been living life. Lol. Sometimes I remember that I’m not a green card holder and sigh… that’s all I can do. Been at this since 2018.
