Once you get the receipt, upload it on your CEAC account under HK PCC and write a note beside it. Tell them that it is HK’s policy that they will send it straight to the US consulate where you will have your interview. Not all officers reviewing cases know about this. I did this too. Our lawyer uploaded without explanation and it was rejected and we got delayed for additional 3weeks. I then wrote a long note beside it and was accepted.
 I requested mine Feb 2019 and had my interview in Montreal Nov 2019.

In June 2019 @KartineeKartoons started a group message for Canadian spousal applicant VJers who were stuck in the Montreal interview scheduling backlog. They invited members at the same stage in the IV process and the message group has remained active more than a year later, currently with 199 VJ members. Not all members are active in the conversation, and a few weeks ago someone suggested it was time to disband the message group.
 
I am inviting all the active members to hold our discussion here, publicly in the forum, moving forward. Having our collective experiences and knowledge siloed behind closed doors is a disservice to the the whole of the VJ community. Let's strengthen the community as a whole by making a shift.

Been waiting for interview since June and  I was not included in the interview letters given this month for Montreal. Thinking of doing some arts and crafts with my husband asap. 🙂

I agree it is super upsetting and frustrating to those of us who have waited all this time and are doing things the legal right way.

I completely agree.  Just like DCF now is pretty much only allowed in exceptional circumstances, AOS on an NIV should be severely restricted similarly.

Its totally frustrating, and I’d go as far to say that I hope one day they get rid of the whole ESTA/B2 AOS process or at the very least make it so that it applies to emergency situations only that are well documented by independent third parties e.g. medical emergency
 
It would be nice if for those that just so conveniently “change their mind about going home” had to go through a process that take 5 times longer than consular processing, it would serve as a big put off for those considering jumping the line.. yes you’ll get to be with your loved one but you can wait 5 years to be legal for the pleasure..

I hear you though.   There are reports of CBP increasingly reading the phones of NIV travelers who deny immigrant/work intent at POE, and finding that they do in fact have such plans.  So things are changing.
 
It is funny how many here who have spontaneously adjusted from NIVs cite that they just couldn’t bear to be apart any longer.....   as if those who petition and join the queue can?!

I don’t know where to submit this so move if in wrong forum or delete if not allowed but am frustrated! 
 
This whole visa waiting game is hard but it has to happen ... 
 
But what makes us (husband and I) frustrated is people who want to enter the US on a tourist visa and just stay because it’s quick and easy. 
it’s the people who don’t do it the “proper” way - the way we are doing it.... via consular processing etc if that’s even the proper way - who knows 🤷‍♀️ 
 
Ive told the same person on FB 1 million times that “wife cannot enter USA on tourist visa with intent to immigrate” ... but they just want a quick, easy way for a “green card” - like don’t we all? Don’t we all want to be with our spouse? 
 
if all due respect to others I really find it hard to also believe that someone went on JUST a holiday and then “circumstances changed” and they just stayed 🧐 no furniture to sell? No rental to cease? No car to sell? I don’t know, resign? Do the right thing and give your 2 weeks notice? Get all your belongings? End your life in your home country before you make a new life? 
 
this is really frustrating to see. It’s a really lonely process that is just full of the “unknown”. 
 
it is the path we picked - consular processing because (a) don’t wanna commit visa fraud 😆 especially if I want to be an attorney and (b) because it’s the right way? Correct me if I’m wrong. 
 
single parenthood while we wait is hard. Lonely and hard and yes a consequence of our actions still lonely nonetheless.

Golly gee, please forgive me for asking a simple question. I'm sure you've never asked a stupid question in your life, right? Perhaps rather than laugh at someone who is making a genuine effort to understand an important but complicated process you could have a little more compassion. Or maybe not. In any case, the helpful advice I received from others was worth the annoyance of having to read your condescending response.

Yes this thread was created by our great Queen Saylin and the knowledge is still going forward. This thread I pray stays alive and well as many who have gone through the process or still going can chime in and help and assist.
If you're wondering about time frames, look at the fellow members right here in this thread! Study their signatures/timelines and make notes. VJ also has this awesome page. Use it! I sure did during my process .  That means if you are on this thread WE expect you to have an up to date timeline.
 
Current case file creation time:
This is the link to go to see what date they are working on. Follow  it says up to 6 weeks but recently that 6 weeks is about 4 weeks from approval at USCIS.
Once your case has been created, we will contact you with instructions on how to begin processing. Until your case is entered into our system, we unfortunately won’t have any information about your case.

I think the pilot electronic process(cases with receipt number starting with IOE...) is a new system uscis is using. They are starting to transfer the whole immigration process from paper to digital. Due to the system being so new it's taking uscis a long time to transfer the cases from uscis to nvc.
 
We got approved in June of 2019. It's been more than 7 months and NVC still hasnt received our case. We hope it will arrive soon!
 
 

Drop them, finish the process yourself.. how they going to bill you and get the so called outstanding anyways? They do nothing without having been paid upfront so you’re likely in front already...
