There is no interview for EAD. You would receive that in the mail.

i don’t doubt your bank account or any of that. I was just curious how you avoided income tax.  If India doesn’t tax you, then that’s the answer.

Ah well then there is no issue to attach your SSN to it now.

As to college courses, you are free to take them but make sure to follow the guidelines for whom is considered a state resident or not - fees for non residents are usually much higher.

Last year, as I waited for my EAD I spent most of my time at home working on interior design projects, learning languages, taking care of my dogs. I do wish, though, that I had attended more networking events and connected more with people from my industry because when I finally got my EAD, I didn't get called for any of the jobs I wanted, largely due to the fact I could not provide any references within the United States other than my family. So you might want to consider using some of your time to attend events and make connections to maximize your employability when the time comes.

Just to point out an important technicality---which you have correct already: The wedding was conducted at the courthouse; the "ceremony" (call it whatever you want--renewal of vows, party, whatever) came later. The ceremony is not a wedding, so, as noted above, no reason not to post---just make sure your family and friends don't call it a wedding! Congrats and best of luck!

Yes.  The ceremony has no effect on your AOS process.  Many people marry in a courthouse, then have religious ceremonies later. Most of us here think that is the preferred way to do it.

It makes no sense that your photos would cause a problem for AOS.  Not an issue.  Feel free to show your celebration photos......

My girlfriend arrived at LAX, waited in the long line, went up to the booth (with me) and handed her passport to the officer. He told her to step aside and "wait here."

This became problematic because she really needed to pee.

It was like 10-15 more minutes or her standing there about to pee her pants until someone came back with her passport and told her she was good to go.

Pee before getting in line, that's what I'm saying.

Ok, enough of Don Quixote and chasing windmills .... back to your question, and on topic.

As others have said, there is typically very little to do at the POE. the CBP officer, checks your paperwork, takes the sealed envelope, and may ask a question or two. The amount of time spent with you may also depend on how many other international arrivals occur at the same time as yours.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thefiance reacted to carmel34 in Interview during entry into US on K1?
The visa interview was conducted abroad, and you were approved.  All the CBP officer will do is process you, it can take anywhere between 5 minutes and an hour depending on the POE and how they do things.  You could be processed in the regular line for non-US citizens, or you may be taken to secondary processing in a back room.  They may ask a few simple questions like what is your correct address in the US.  All they're focused on is verifying that you have a valid foreign passport with a photo that matches your face, that your visa inside is valid, and entering your information into their computer system and stamping your visa with the date of entry.  Nothing to be worried about.  If you don't speak English very well they have experience with that too.  Relax and focus on preparing for your move to the US.  Good luck!

My wifes POE experience was uneventful. They went over paper work and asked why she was coming to the states. Her response was to get married. Agent reminded her to get married within 90 days and she was processed through. YMMV

Thefiance reacted to Cg2008 in Interview during entry into US on K1?
It depends on the officer I think... My husband arrived on a Spouse visa and the first officer collected the slip you need to fill out at entry and then called another officer to verify his information.... that took 10 min then another officer came out and called us to the side and said they couldnt find his paper work and asked if we had any other proof.. then he said he found it.  And just kept asking the date we got married. That's why I don't like the electronic version now.. anywho...  It was just worrisome, but that was it. Then he signed a paper stating we have to reapply before it expires and stamped his visa...

Another person on here said they called her into a room and she sat there for about 5 minutes and didn't ask her anything and then gave her the stamp. So its all different.

My POE was Los Angeles. I wasn’t asked any questions aside from where I was going and when I was going to get married. It took me 5 minutes total to get my passport stamped. But some people here have been asked more questions, I’d recommend to check the review of POEs on this site.

International  is good for 90 days. Driver license issue  is a big hassle some offices will issue  you without EAD on just ur unexpired  I94 others won't.  Generally you have to wait ur EAD or GC. My office would not issue until EAD however  they would issue on the I94 but only until it expired. So not worth the  hassle. We are waiting the EAD or GC. Not a big deal for us to wait.  I do realize some  couples it's a big deal.

I had my interview on Oct 4th. Reached the consulate by 6:30. By 6:45 the guards asked us to form a line and asked us to keep our passport and DS 160 handy. Post this there was some basic checks inside the consulate and then we were directed towards the security clearance. We were directed to the counter area post clearance. You will have people assisting you with organizing your documents, you are supposed to keep the documents in that particular order. Post that you are given a counter number. Once your counter number is displayed on screen go to that counter. You will be interviewed by an Indian officer. Basic questions would be asked and they would take your documents and passport which you have pass under the counter slide .

Post this, you will be asked to wait for the US Consular Officer to interview you. Once your counter number is flashed again, reach that counter.

American CO would ask you basic questions:

How did you meet your fiance?
    How long have you dated?
Do you have any pictures of you two together?
    Where does he work?
    What does he do?
    When did you get engaged?
    How many people attended engagement?
When do you plan to get married?
Where do you plan to get married in the US?
    Where does your fiance live?

After everything you would be told if you are approved or not.

Hey, I got the date around 10am .. but it really doesn’t have a specific time... log in every few hours to check starting around 9:30am ... don’t log in multiple times within 2 or 3 hours .. or else it will freeze your account. Lemme known if you need any further clarification
