Interview for GC query

Hi Everyone,

I hope this is the right forum to ask this question.

 

I was hoping you guys could clear something for me. Durning the K1 process we were asked to provide our social media accounts on the form, didn't know what that was for exactly but after coming to the US we had a court wedding immediately and  a couple of months later had a religious ceremony and reception as well. Someone told me recently that the photos taken during the religious ceremony shouldn't be shown on social media since the interviewer will think its a sham as our court wedding date is the one put on the marriage certificate. but its hard to tell everyone not to tag us in any pictures, also even if we hide our profiles, if you search for our names on FB it still pulls up pictures taken by other people if they have it as *public. can someone please shed some light on this. would the pictures create a problem during the GC interview since the dates are different? has anyone else faced something like this?

It makes no sense that your photos would cause a problem for AOS.  Not an issue.  Feel free to show your celebration photos......

Hey, thank you for that. So if the interviewer asks if we had a religious wedding ceremony after the court marriage we can just say yes? Sorry for the questions I’m just a bit worried.

Yes.  The ceremony has no effect on your AOS process.  Many people marry in a courthouse, then have religious ceremonies later. Most of us here think that is the preferred way to do it.

Just to point out an important technicality---which you have correct already: The wedding was conducted at the courthouse; the "ceremony" (call it whatever you want--renewal of vows, party, whatever) came later. The ceremony is not a wedding, so, as noted above, no reason not to post---just make sure your family and friends don't call it a wedding! Congrats and best of luck!
