It has nothing to do with the approval of the petition.  Approved petitions have just been sitting at the NVC, since K-1 interviews are not happening for the most part.

Like others have said, the visa is valid for six months after the medical.

Follow the instructions for cash payment.  You will need to create a user account and go through the visa application process:  DS-160 for fiance visa.  At a certain point you will have the option to download and/or print a cash payment slip with instructions on where to take the payment.  Be sure to select the K visa fee, which is $265 US.

I think you can proceed as usual with the DS-160 and setting up an interview.

Hello everyone, if anyone that’s in The Gambia I need to understand that I have received an email from the Embassy around the 4th of November saying that as of November 16th the Embassy will resume the I-129F K-1 visa process and make sure that the documents are done , but I don’t know why that the Embassy office is still not open yet if someone else knows and going through this as well can you please tell me what’s going on I understand the Covid but everything else is open back up except the Embassy, I’m so frustrated because the waiting and patience is ridiculous I know I’m not the only one who is going through this but I miss my fiancé so badly it hurts 😭

Once you get a case number, you can fill out the DS 160 online. Print the confirmation page once completed. Make a copy for your file and bring the other to the interview. You cannot schedule Doctor's appointment till you receive notice from embassy  It's taking about 3 months of waiting to be able to schedule any appointments. Do not do the medical too soon as the visa validity is based on the medical date. Approx. 6 months from date of that medical is the expiration of the visa. Your mileage may vary so check your visa once you received and make plans accordingly. You complete 2 criminal reports (one of which expires in 90 days) obtain a Fiche Anthropometrique and a Casier Judiciaire from the Central Police station at their place of residence.  The Embassy requires all documents to have an English translation along with the original Arabic

When you have your case number, enter it here https://ss.state.g...ker/status.aspx and it will tell you one of three things,  at NVC, In Transit, or Ready. Once your case shows "Ready" then you email the consulate and request an interview. Include your name, fiancés name, case number and that you're looking to schedule a K1 Fiance Visa interview. I heard they'll email you back within 2 weeks or so but some have heard back the same day that they sent the email.

When they email you back, they'll tell you when your appointment is. Attached will be packet 3. Includes a list of doctors to choose from for the medical, your rights and your appointment letter. At that point - just get your papers together. Usually, your fiancé gets the police records in a week. Court records same day. Celabecy letter same day. And birth cert in the same day. Once you have them, then dropped them off to be translated. Picked them up in a week. Already you're at 2 weeks for gathering the fiancés paperwork. On top of that make sure your fiancé sends you their documents (I-134, proof of relationship, taxes, pay stubs, letter from employer, updated letter of intent).

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

        • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
        • it will take as long as it will take
        • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
        • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
        • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
        • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
        • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

    Good luck on your journey

Pictures of family is great but pictures that could be construed as a wedding or wedding celebration or even an engagement party is not recommended.

There have been may cases that what you see as a "party" to what the CO sees as a possible "wedding". I would hate to see you come all this way and get denied because of an innocent picture. Why give the CO "ammunition" to use against you in ways you never thought possible? I'll give you an example and from there you'll need to make your own decision. If you want more information than in the upper right corner of this page is a search box. Use the words "marriage ceremony" and you will have more examples.

1st he has to have a document from embassy to take to the medical exam
and 2nd you don't want this done to soon as the visa expriration is 6 months from date of medical
and many go into long AP and need to have medical redone when the embassy decides to approve the visa

Keep the faith.  AOS rarely  results in a failure.  If anything they might ask for more information.

Do something fun and try to relax and reduce the anxiety.  My spouse gets real anxious about things so I find ways to distract her.  I'll take her on a little trip or distract her with another project or class.

Laytona Campbell reacted to carmel34 in k1 visa evidence
This is a popular, but incorrect myth that just won't die.  The only reason I can think of to explain the confusion is that evidence of an ongoing marital relationship is required for a spousal visa, but not for a fiancé visa, contrary to popular belief and Facebook comments.

Here's all you have to submit (in addition to the other, very specific, required documents), quoted directly from the I-129F instructions on the (official) USCIS website:

you must submit evidence of: A. Intention to Marry Within 90 Days of Entry. Submit evidence that you and your fiancé(e) intend to marry within 90 days of your fiancé(e)’s entry as a K-1 nonimmigrant. Evidence of your intention to marry may include statements of intent to marry signed by both you and your fiancé(e) or any other evidence that establishes, by a preponderance of the evidence, your mutual intention; and B. In-Person Meeting. Submit evidence that you and your fiancé(e) met in person during the 2-year period immediately before you filed this petition. Evidence of this meeting may include, but is not limited to, a written statement from you and/or your fiancé(e) stating the circumstances of your meeting, a copy of airline tickets, passport pages, or other evidence.

Unless you have many red flags or are applying in a high fraud country, don't bother with sending pages and pages of romantic messages.  Just send what they ask for.  Good luck!

One of the requirements of the K-1 is to have met in the prior two years of filing. I would give some thought to traveling to see the beneficiary and marry in their country and then return to the US and file the CR-1. It's easier and requires less money, just as fast as the K-1 and the beneficiary can begin to work almost as soon as they arrive and have their SSN. Traveling with the right precautions and what the airlines are doing to make your flight safe you may want to reconsider.
