Hello,

Just a question on evidence: my fiance and i talk all day every day, on whatsapp and fb messenger...so in gathering evidence, I have found that pieces of a conversation are important or relevant to our case. There doesn't have to be any sort of flow or order to the conversations we choose to include in our packet is there? As long as conversations are relevant to our case and translated into english, is it okay if  the screenshots jump around a bit?

Thanks,

Ashley and Manuel

So do you mean that you believe we should not include our messages together

USCIS wants proof of meeting.   Chats do not provide this.

Ok and we have that...passport stamps, boarding tickets and where we stayed...they also want proof of an ongoing relationship which is where text messages and fb messages would come in? In your opinion, would they still be unnecessary? I mean if you think so, then great because getting these messages together has been the biggest pain in the ###, especially if i have to translate all the ones that seemed important.

Where in the instructions to the i129f does it require submission of ongoing relationship evidence?

To me it seems that the whole i129f is for us to display evidence of our commitment to our alien fiance. The intent to marry is evidence of an ongoing relationship, circumstances of meeting, saved recipts of things we've bought for eachother, the engagement ring and social announcements. Any proof of appointments we have made to look at wedding venues have all been suggested to be included in the i129f as proof of an existing relationship between myself and my fiance. Message correspondences have as well and I was just looking for some clarity on the flow of these messages, if you can CLARIFY then great, if not no worries.

The i129f is NOT about your relationship.  It is about being free to marry, providing a statement of your intent and having met ONE time in the previous two years.  People have included what you write about,  however,  it is NOT required.  Unless you are in a high fraud country, all it does is clutter the petition.   I submitted nothing other than the required items.

This is a popular, but incorrect myth that just won't die.  The only reason I can think of to explain the confusion is that evidence of an ongoing marital relationship is required for a spousal visa, but not for a fiancé visa, contrary to popular belief and Facebook comments.

Here's all you have to submit (in addition to the other, very specific, required documents), quoted directly from the I-129F instructions on the (official) USCIS website:

you must submit evidence of: A. Intention to Marry Within 90 Days of Entry. Submit evidence that you and your fiancé(e) intend to marry within 90 days of your fiancé(e)’s entry as a K-1 nonimmigrant. Evidence of your intention to marry may include statements of intent to marry signed by both you and your fiancé(e) or any other evidence that establishes, by a preponderance of the evidence, your mutual intention; and B. In-Person Meeting. Submit evidence that you and your fiancé(e) met in person during the 2-year period immediately before you filed this petition. Evidence of this meeting may include, but is not limited to, a written statement from you and/or your fiancé(e) stating the circumstances of your meeting, a copy of airline tickets, passport pages, or other evidence.

Unless you have many red flags or are applying in a high fraud country, don't bother with sending pages and pages of romantic messages.  Just send what they ask for.  Good luck!

Thank you soooo much. This was so helpful!
