Fact 1: Working without an EAD is unauthorized employment. Fact 2: unauthorized employment is forgiven when AOSing with a US Citizen spouse. Not my words, not a loophole, but express law from Congress.

Anyone who has a problem with Fact 2 should take it up with Congress, not me.

Also, you will want to look up licensing requirements for your state, which for hairdressers is usually managed through the department of health.

Am a hairstylist. Someone gave me an offer to start managing her saloon which is very close to my house, just like 3 minites trekking. Just submitted my AOS. I think is illegal to do that, she saw my daughter hairstyle which i made she like it since then she has been qcalling me to work with her in her second saloon. Personal i have it in mind to start making hair after getting my EAD bcos that what I do from my country.

It is frustrating not knowing when you get it but it is wise to wait as they can use it against in the future.

Yeap got a reaction from Ola&Adunni in K1 visa interview, is there any hope?
Am sorry for the disappointment. The best you can do now is to get marry in Nigeria and file again. Getting K1 in Nigeria is tough expecially with divorce hustory or when you someone have past history on attempt to travel out, VO normally look at it as someone looki g for every mean to get in. During my interview anyone with attempt to travel to US before applying for K1 were denied.  Just stay calm and channel your energy to spousal Visa, which I think is the best, if I know better I would have option for spousal visa,it has alot of advantages over Fiance K1 visa. It might be a blessing in disguise.

Thank Yeap, we have become family here this is very emotional for me , meanwhile my fiancée and I are taking our time to focus on us rather than the immigration drama, she would be moving here soon. God bless you

I respectfully beg to differ, based up actual successful personal experience with this procedure.

When I was preparing my family's (K1 & K2) AOS/EAD/AP applications. I carefully followed the VJ K2 Tip Guide as it relates to the I-864 as I previously stated in my first posting on this thread. I made a copy of my K1 wife's I-864 and included it in my stepson's AOS applications packet (as per VJ K2 Tip Guide). A subsequent change in the Form I-864 now requires a change in where the K2 is listed on the K1's I-864, and I previously described where that information should now be inserted in the current Form I-864.

Last night, I checked my scanned electronic copy of those submitted applications and that is indeed how I prepared them and send them to USCIS. My family got their EAD/AP combo cards and after the interview, their 2-year conditional GCs, with no RFEs.

    YMMV.
Good luck on your immigration journey.

Yup, that would be unauthorized work. Nobody on this website can condone or advise you to do so (it’s against the TOS).

Agreed. Im actually surprised that so many immigrants apply for/receive benefits when we (sponsor) have to jump through hoops to show we can basically “afford” to take care of the person we are bringing into the country. One would think that’s what the affidavit of support was supposed to be all about.

Yeap reacted to Edward Becnel in Use K1 Alien Registration Number for K2 on I-485?
I am filling out the I-485 AOS for my new wife (the primary K-1 visa beneficiary) and her son (the K-2 visa beneficiary). The mother's alien registration number was hand-written by immigration at the port of entry on the visa page of the son's passport, so should I use this alien registration number for the son or should I leave this blank on the I-485? I have seen other related questions here on VisaJourney.com in which the answers mentioned that the A-number for the K-2 visa holder will be issued after the AOS is completed, so I am guessing that I should leave this blank. I am asking only because it is hand-written on the son's visa.

It took me two weeks with very weak English level. My salary was around $2,000/month.

Now, 10 years later, I have good English and about $300,000/year salary. USA made me do it!

I hear you but some people like myself can't imagine life without working. I need a job to stay sane and cannot just let my husband work alone. My other reason is, I didn't get married just to be taken cared of. I want to be able to take care of my husband too if a time comes that he is not able to. We are back up to each other.  For people like us, working is self-fulfilling.  For some, being a full-time housewife is fulfilling. Not to mention for us Filipinos, most of us usually have the "responsibility" to our families.

I suggest slowing down.  Take about 6 months or a year to adjust.  Learn the way of the USA, our culture, our tax system, the people to avoid.

When I brought my fiancé to the USA I had no desire for her to go work,  You have you entire life to work,  enjoy the ride and experience life.  Life is not about working, it's about living.

I feel sorry for the people who I see come to the USA and go directly to work, what kind of life is that?  I also see people posting stuff like when can my fiancé or husband work?  I think to myself did you marry for love or marry for an extra income, jeez.

Yeap reacted to Helenlc in K2 enroll for school
You don't have to wait... or at least we didn't. We went down to the school office with our K1 and K2 documents and passports and filled in the needed paper work and my son started straight away. I also have a friend who moved here with her children on a k1 / k2 and started school the same week both of us are in different states.

But honestly go speak to the local school office they will be able to help.

Yeap reacted to Cyberfx1024 in K2 enroll for school
It all varies by state and school district. But the requirements to enroll are usually:

    Vaccination record
    Birth certificate
Proof of residency to show you live in the school district

Usually you only have to wait 1-2 days at most once you enroll to start
