ConnorS got a reaction from Xyrstine in Keeping UK SIM/Phone number
I chose them because they are based online exclusively, very easy to top up and the user interface is pretty easy to navigate and intuitive.  In the UK they piggy back on the o2 network.  But when roaming as Luke said earlier you bounce around to the best network available.  But for actual calls and texts it's emergency only.

Like you I have a dual sim phone.  My other sim here (US) is with mint mobile. On slight different tangent over here some networks work on gsm (T-Mobile) others work on CDMA (Verizon) so when choosing a network here you have to make sure your phones compatible.  All UK networks are GSM, so if you did decide to go with the likes of verizon make sure your phone is able to operate on CDMA.

    "Permanent roaming restrictions
You can only use Go Roam for periodic travel, like holidays or short breaks. To ensure all customers can benefit from roaming at no extra cost, we have put in place the following rules for prolonged periods of roaming.
If you're in a Go Roam in Europe destination
We'll monitor your usage, and if you spend most of your time abroad and consume more abroad than at home over a four month period, we have the right to add a small surcharge to your continued roaming usage.
We'll send you an alert two weeks before the surcharge applies.
If you're in a Go Roam Around the World destination
We'll monitor your usage, and if you spend two complete months in a Go Roam Around the World destination, we have the right to suspend international roaming services on your account. This means you'll no longer be able to use your device abroad. If you spend a full two months abroad but some of that time is spent in a destination that isn't included in Go Roam, the restriction won't apply"

Direct from the horses mouth, or website in this case. 🤪  I think if you have managed to use Go Roam for over 2 months without issue your doing really well @LukeU. I left three specifically because I was losing all the benefits of being with them such as this.  Been with giff gaff for almost 2 years now (1 year and 2 months state side).  Topped it up with a tenner twice and it's still active, like others have mentioned other than it being linked to my whatsapp I also have it linked to my banking accounts and transfer wise so it's handy to have

You are correct sir.  I can't believe I forgot that - I got our notice in Jan 2019 - less than 2 years ago.  And I already had my coffee when I posted....

You can do.  I sent in my renewal on 07/20/20 and it was 2 and a half weeks before I got a reply in the mail, but that paperwork was dated from 08/05/20, postal service seemed to be the hold up more than uscis in this instance 😆

I do similar to this but with giffgaff, only need to make an active call or text once every 6 months to keep it active and top it up with a cheeky wee tenner.

Mine is mainly because my numbers linked to what'sapp and that's what friends and family back there use to contact me on

ConnorS reacted to Wuozopo in Green Card / Process - Next Steps
    Hi Caitlin 👋

His greencard will have a date on it “Resident since xx/xx/xxxx”.
Two years from that date the card expires, so he must submit I751 Removal of Conditions (aka ROC) before the expiration. The earliest you can submit is 90 days before. That was our biggest application because you send evidence covering 2 years proving you share your life, finances, living arrangements. What we did was start a folder Immediately and throw in sampling’s of things with both names. Joint bank accounts, joint tax returns, leases or mortgages, bills with both names, joint credit cards, driver licenses showing same address, anything where one is beneficiary or the other,  Car insurance listing both names.  Just copy and throw in the folder so you have some stuff from early in your marriage until the time you apply for ROC. Otherwise you might throw out the old car insurance paper when you get new ones. For things like monthly bank statements, I only did the earliest date, some in the middle, and the most recent. When the time comes to file you will have a folder full of stuff to sort and choose what to send. No scrambling for years-old proofs. An interview would be rare. They just mail a new greencard that has a 10 year expiration, but it can take a year for them to get around to your application.

    Next....
His first greencard will have a date on it “Resident since xx/xx/xxxx”.
Three years from that date, he may apply for US citizenship if he is still married to you. Otherwise it’s five years from his first greencard date.. You don’t need a massive amount of of evidence. I only sent a few new things with dates since the ROC marriage proofs just to show we continued to be married.

I first received the SMS for the 131. 15 minutes later I received the SMS for the 765. The weird thing is that the 765 case number ends with 92 and the 131 ends with 93. So I should've received the 765 first.

Anyway, I'm just waiting for the NOA in the mail now.

Contractors open the mail and do the initial rejections for incompleteness or incorrect fees. They don’t have authorization to look up your case history.  You know what to do now to fix it. Good luck.

ConnorS reacted to Captain Ewok in White House Petition to Add Executive Order Exception for Immediate Family Members and Fiances
The trump Administration is planning to pass an Executive Order in the next 24 hours to suspend immigration to America.  While it's unlikely the President will change their mind on the general policy, we believe they may consider a narrow exception for immediate family members of US Citizens, including fiancés.  We've started a petition a the White House which requires 10,000 signatures to get attention and 100,000 signatures to get a formal response.  Please join us by signing the petition at the following link.  We should have the membership to make a solid run at getting enough signatures!

    Congratulations. Great News!!
Back in the “olden days” when I was doing this,  around 50% of the K1s got to skip the AOS interview. I guess USCIS  figured they needed to keep the machine moving during social distancing. And adjudicators could work from home by taking home a few boxfulls of files and working through them.  I wonder if the card maker/mailers are short staffed and it will take awhile for the card to arrive. Update this thread when you get it. When we were waived, it wasn’t about massive evidence submitted because all I sent with AOS for marriage evidence was the marriage certificate.
Best to the baby girl 🌷🌸💖

It's good (well, as good as it can be under the situation). Herschell has been able to work from home, so we've been self-isolating for 4 weeks now - the downside is, we've both put on several lbs in those 4 weeks, cause I can't stop baking! I'm making bread, cake, cookies non-stop it feels like - my way of dealing with stress I guess! LA has extended their lockdown until 15th May, so I hate to think what we'll weigh then 🤣.

I checked my status last week online and it transpired that my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview, so I guess that means all paperwork was correct and no RFE! Now we just play the waiting game - but it's not so bad, I wouldn't be applying for jobs or trying to travel now anyway.

I applied for mine with my i-94, and it's true that it is only valid for the remainder of the time left on it, however I was informed at the DMV that when my notice of action for I-797c for my EAD came in and as long as it wasn't a refusal they would extend it as it states on it the application is pending for at least 180 days, I received that, took it in and tada, I now have a further 180 days, and then when the EAD is approved, all being well, I need to pop down again with it and have it extended again

Yeah the fun starts all over again, just remember and snap photos of you together with family friends on special occasion as you need to provide bonifides post entry now as well, the joys of of having to qualify your relationship is legit continuously 😅.  We are on a very similar time frame, pooley, I just arrived in the US at the beginning of August, so at least I know of someone I can follow and share in the frustration of dealing with USCIS, good luck to you and your partner lass 😊

ConnorS reacted to BBGG in How many Tdap and MMR shots if I have no previous records?
An update after my successful medical at Knightsbridge today:

I brought the following vaccination records to the medical:
UK GP patient summary/care summary where my latest 2 x MMR and 1 x DTaP shots were listed right on the first page under "Immunizations" My old Soviet medical card with vaccinations during the first two years of my life, with a certified translation of it into English that I did at a UK translation agency (the translator was not a special medical translator, but the nurse did not check or ask for it) My Russian vaccination records from when I was 21 years old, with a certified translation into English (again, not a special medical translation, just certified) The nurse took all the records from me without questions (for Russian/Soviet records, she only took the translations) and used them all to fill in the information in DS-3025. All the records appeared to be valid.

Interestingly enough, she asked me if I had any Pertussis immunization in the childhood, I showed here where it is specified in my childhood vaccination card (Soviet, #2 above), under "Diphtheria and Pertussis" (but not Tetanus). She entered these my records under "DTP, DTaP" in the DS-3025.

So, the result of my vaccination check is:
    1. Td - complete, with waiver B ("Insufficient time interval to complete series", meaning that I had my last Td on July 3, 2019, medical is on Aug 28, 2019, 10 years before the next shot have not passed)
    2. MMR - complete with no need for a waiver (needed two shots, I had them on July 3, 2019 and Aug 1, 2019, both are entered in the DS-3025)
    3. Varicella - complete, Varicella History marked
    4. Influenza - complete, no shot needed because it is not flu season on the day of the medical, waiver F is specified ("Flu vaccine not available")

All other fields in the form are marked with waiver A ("Not age appropriate")

"K Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requirements" is checked, which means, as I was explained, that I'm up to date with the US vaccination requirements and this DS-3025 is good for filing with my AOS.

I did not have to get any additional vaccinations right there at Knightsbridge during the medical. Very happy I got them all for free from NHS/GP prior to the medical.

Attaching a copy of my DS-3025, maybe someone will find it useful.
