Another angle many miss. In a local county over 50% of the population in the 18-35 age range gets  some form of Govt means tested benefits. Yet every year they get  waivers to bring in 1000s of immigrants to pick and process the local fruit crops, because they have proven they cant get enough labor in the local market.

Why should tax payer money be used to support citizens but yet we have to bring in labor. Yes picking  fruit may not be an ideal job,  but we are incentivizing  people to not .
    work.

Let that belly get to rumbling. They will go to work

Is this the effective date for all cases filed from that point on, or for all applicants interviewing after that date, or for all immigrants entering the US after that date, or something else? I’m a little confused by the application of this rule

    thanks

I haven’t watched it but that story sounds familiar and was discussed here before, I think. She irritated me then. If a military person is quite happy to harbor an illegal that he shouldn’t be in the military.

Her sense of entitlement was typical of military spouses. Interesting that you don’t see spouses of fire fighters and first responders with that attitude. And they put their lives on the line every day.

We submitted our applications around late January and just had our interview this Monday and wanted to share our experience. Once again I really think it depends a lot on who you get for your interview. The only supporting documents we submitted was utility bills, health ins, and marriage certificate. We were a bit worried because we didn't submit lease agreement or bank statement but everything went fine and our case was approved and it showed the new card in production the morning after the interview. We didn't think it was gonna be this easy so we are very thankful for that but this goes to show you how easy it can be for some people and not for some. Don't overthink and worry too much. btw we submitted our applications after overstaying on esta for about 2 years. Good luck everybody.

Do you really want the job that an undocumented alien has? If a company is hiring illegal aliens, I wouldn’t want to work there. Heck knows what other labor laws they are breaking. Are they paying below minimum wage? Are they adhering to safety rules? Are the employees getting the legally mandated rest periods?

I think most of the jobs filled by undocumented people are the types of jobs most USCs and LPRs wouldn't dream of wanting to do.
Under-the-table-employment usually equals no benefits, minimum (or sometimes less than minimum) wage, longer hours, harder labour, not the greatest working conditions, no rights by the employee, etc.

That's not to say there aren't USCs and LPRs going through some of those same conditions...what I mean to say, is that those working illegally get far more taken advantage of BECAUSE they are working illegally...employers know they can take full advantage however they want to without any real recourse---employees know they have no real power in fighting whatever the employer wants, because they need the money to survive and cannot report unfair working conditions to anyone else due to fear of being found out as an illegal.

I might be a superficial but I will call that one more obstacle to people who want to make things right and in a honest way .
I think that something has to be done with sanctuary cities and ( I dare to say ) the whole sanctuary States . How much that costs American tax payers ? Not going into details but I guess it is enormous amount of money.

This makes no sense to me.  Your husband is a counselor...but doesn't believe in the benefit of his children receiving counseling?

This also is puzzling.  The first AOS was denied due to a RFE for a missed signature, and you somehow weren't able to resubmit the form (all you had to do was sign it) within the 60-90 days or whatever the RFE allowed?  Sounds like one of the easiest RFE's to respond to in time.

Your circumstances sound very familiar to another recent thread here.

To be fair, I've been a little concerned about insurance through the process and I think I was going to probably purchase by own even though I'm a completely healthy person. I work in healthcare so I know how a person can have an appendix burst from one day to the next and require surgery.

However, I do think this is gonna separate a lot of low income families, and it makes no sense to me considering a lot of US born citizens are uninsured themselves due to the broken healthcare system in America. Thinking that barring LEGAL immigrants is gonna somehow solve those issues, instead of actual restructuring the healthcare system is ridiculous, and won't solve any of the high costs of Healthcare in America.

Until I see straightforward guidelines as to how this is gonna be implemented, what I see is just another attempt to make things messy and difficult for legal immigration. Quite the dirty thing to do imho

What is your problem with this rule?  Healthcare was always considered a factor when support affidavits are reviewed.

I'm not a Trump fan, I'm all for universal healthcare. Right now, it's not available in the US... People do need some access to healthcare (unfortunately, accidents and illnesses happen). If they're not eligible to Medicaid/Medicare/etc., I feel it's reasonable to ask the sponsor to demonstrate how they'll take care of the immigrant.  I've seen multiple posters over the years delaying/avoiding treatment because they could not afford it.

US healthcare is a big mess, but I feel that the new requirement will protect the immigrant.

Perhaps there ought to be a Netflix series detailing the lives of people who can't find a job because criminals are filling them.

I've begun watching it.  In my opinion, it's very skewed focusing on only the persons undocumented and their own/own family's point-of-view.  It would be nice if it were more well-rounded and not seemingly only one agenda.

Hopefully I get the interview notice in the next week or so, and can get this done. I have already contacted a few professional translators and am looking at 300-500 dollars for that. Her friend is Free, but my plan is to bring the professional translator, her friend, and have the interview scheduled at a time where the phone service is available. I will fill the room. They had 4 chairs in the interview office, so I'll make sure they are all full on my next visit. I personally think she could have answered any questions fine, so do her friends who have been telling her about their experience within the past few years of doing AOS interviews, but it's at the IO discretion as mentioned. I wasn't worried about a denial, I say go for it, worse case is another 1225 dollars and a refile of the AOS I already filled out fine once, really easy to file again. The way things are going I am going to be out another 1225 by the time this interview is over anyway. Will keep everyone updated.

Working on a list of questions. I did check, and you are right you can bring anyone you know who can translate. The just have to have a passport or real ID so they can get in the building. I have one of her friends ready to help when we get the new interview. Hopefully I can post the questions a little later today. We only did like 2-3.

Hard to predict; it's at the IO's discretion. Best case scenario they issue a RFE after the interview.
