Personally I found out from the news about the new South Korean travel restriction, and confirmed it on the Korean Air website which is the first leg of my trip in May.  I'm still a bit worried about our booking since we are expecting to fly into Minneapolis, but currently people flying from China are restricted to 9 or 11 different airports.  Hopefully that will be ending before Spring, because fares have doubled in May in the last week, and I don't want to be forced to change.

Everyone goes to AP.  Even if they simply need time to print and affix a visa to the passport it will go to AP.  As missileman said, the only status that matters is issued.  Could be next day to a couple weeks, so don't fret too much about it.

Using Powerpoint or some presentation app (I used WPS) is the easiest way to prepare, you can make captions using the text box, and overlay text boxes on top of the image with translations and paste and resize the photos in.  It was the simplest method I found, and I was able to get 3 to 4 photos plus a caption for each on every page certain evidence couldn't be shrunk down so it got a page all to its own.  Change the PPT format to portrait and the size of your paper.

Chat logs are very informal evidence, there isn't a required way to do it, I prepared it how I imagined the clerk scanning this stuff in and reading it would prefer, because I didn't want them wasting their time sifting through pages trying to understand my methods.

I added captions below the Chinese on chat logs, and also included a signed message that I certified the translations are accurate and true.  I can speak and write Chinese, so it was easy for me, but if you aren't confident in your Chinese level, find a friend to translate for you, or pay one of those services to do it for you.  I would translate them, because the person who looks at your case may or may not understand Chinese.  For all they know your logs could be completely irrelevant to your relationship.

I know someone who has been in AP for two years and was never given a 221g or a ds5535.  He was also asked to update his medical almost 6 months ago with excitement but hence it is now expiring again so he has no idea what will happen.

Another case in Pakistan was issued a visa but when he arrived for his flight they did not allow him on.  They said he had to check with the embassy.   He sent his passport back to the embassy and has been waiting for a year.

I will say that most men do not get extensive AP...this website unfortunately Pakistanis only post when they need help and not enough good news but the fact is some do get AP and even a smaller portion of those get extended.   Many get their visas a few weeks after a interview.  You don't really know what is in your cards.  Just pray for the best but expect the worst.

    Good luck!

The problem now is that there is no available appointment date at the website. I have been trying since 19/12/19
I imagine with the holidays, staffing is low and there aren't enough available for interviews.  You could try their email support-ghana@ustraveldocs.com, and see if maybe they can offer to help get you scheduled, or it might convince them to go in and update the appointments calendar.  Wouldn't hurt to try.  Put your case number in the subject.

This is pretty much the bottom line.  If it's love you truly seek, spending a couple years together in Tunisia or having extended visits in a neighboring country Tunisian's can travel to and building a healthy relationship "portfolio" before marriage is a must before any CO would take this case seriously.  The number of red flags is enough that the first official to get their hands on it would toss it in the waste bin a moment after looking it over.

Tunisian man is probably not going to get a tourist visa to Canada,  the US or Europe (too many trying to get to Europe illegally for work)
Tunisia ,  Algeria ,  Morocco all have a big population of men under the age of 25 and 25 to 30 / mostly why the jobs are scarce

    To the OP
My Adil registered on this site in 2009 when we applied for K1
i wish you would go thru the Tunisia posts (all the way thru the letters written in there) as a Tunisian man with big age gap (not as big as yours) went to an interview and the other people in the embassy laughed at him for the age gap
yes,  the embassy can be rude and it is not professional for them to act that way but according to that poster it did

I can not imagine your family especially mother would really be ok with this marriage   If they are OK with it because they think you will work and send money back home,  you're going to be surprised to see the cost of living here (and helping the financially stressed wife) plus our insurance and tax system is too much to help family in Tunisia
and you also need to understand that if you get past the NVC stage to an interview,  the CO in embassy will be looking closely at your education and job possibilites and a lack of former education in the US means any work you may find would be laborous    and Americans do work hard  (this is not like what you see on TV)  My adil has high school and 2 years of accounting college level and still works 6 10 hour days

Depending if that full-time position is salary and a decent salary at that, and you can produce a job offer letter and perhaps collect a few paychecks proving the new income, it could be enough, but not always.  If you haven't even started the job, it would be more likely to not be enough.  I would be looking for a joint sponsor right now, because it almost certainly could be an issue.

after entry you have 90 days to get married.

and then you should apply to aos (preferably within these 90 days, as after that your status will technically expire)

As mentioned, he cannot cancel anything. He has passed the point of no return. He cannot even withdraw the I-864 because the I-485 has already been approved.

Like I said, your focus right now should be:

    1. The safety of you and your child, both physically and emotionally. If you feel like it's not safe, time to think about moving out. There organizations that help people in your situation: victims of abuse, woman's groups, ... Contact them. Remember to get the green card. If he hits you or your child, call 911 immediately.
    2. File for divorce. You need that to proceed with immigration.
    3. Collect evidence as I mentioned above.
    4. Start the process of healing.

I didn’t want to move either. I had a very good job, a house, and a very comfortable life in the UK. But my husband (USC) has a criminal record and was denied a UK visa. What do you do? Do you choose your job or choose your relationship? I sold my house, gave up my job and moved here. That’s what you do. Fortunately I was able to get a job in the same industry here (not quite the same job but almost). But I would have worked at McDonald’s if that’s all I could get.

Sounds like a new life in the USA is more of a priority to you than being together with her. If she doesn’t speak German then look to a move to Ireland under your EU freedom of movement rights.

I assume you are the sponsor, they brought you both in for the interview, for a CR1/IR1?  Was that how they scheduled it, or did they request you to come in unplanned?

5 to 6 days is reasonable this time of the year to wait for a status change.  With the holidays here, they are short-staffed, but also we are a month away from the Chinese Spring festival, so there's a high volume of people applying for tourist and student visas for the New Year.

Hopefully the official good news will come quick, my wife goes in for her interview next Monday, so we are nervously anticipating that day, and hoping for an early Christmas gift!

The only status that matters is when it changes to completed and being delivered.  Just because they verbally said it is approved doesn't mean it is official until it is in your visa in in your hands.  They likely need to enter more information into record, and have people sign off on the approval, so that can take anything from a few hours to a few days or longer.

givionte reacted to Villanelle in i-864 I-864a tax questions
They probably file joint taxes because that gives people the best tax rates... If sibling earns enough then technically they can file the 864 alone (including the joint return) and they should qualify. However many times Officers ask for the 864a from their spouse just to be sure the spouse knows of the financial obligations being undertaken. It is recommended on VJ to send in the 864a from the sponsors spouse when filing rather then adding time to the process if they ask for it and you then have to present it... Its up to you if you want to include her 864a or not, but I would if its not an issue.

How you file taxes doesnt matter. Household size is calculated by adding if you have a spouse, children (whether they live with you or not, or you claim them on taxes or not) and anyone else you may claim as dependent on taxes (can be niece or nephew, or adult college age child for example)  So on siblings 864 it would be 5- exactly how you broke it down.

And yes. It says do not count anyone twice. Your wife is the immigrant. She is counted there and only there. Its very confusing to people because it then has a line for spouse so you feel like you should be entering them there but you do not. If you did it would total to 3 and its not 3. Its 2. The spouse line is necessary though for your sibling to be able to list the immigrant and their spouse - 2 different people.
Part 1/2 is about you. (or your sibling on their form)
Yes only joint sponsor - using household member filing 864a
    Yes you are the petitioner
2 would be your address. You said you are back in the US so use the appropriate address, you can leave blank the A numbers since you do not have one.

Yes, blank is fine, yes 1
Yes you should enter 0 since you have no income that will count. If you are not presently employed then you would check unemployed since and enter the date you stopped working.

If sibling spouse is doing 864a then sibling would do part 6 #8 enter spouse and her income #10. #7 would be siblings earnings. You would add 7 and 10 on #20 (20 should match joint tax return) and check 21 that they are signing on the 864a

givionte got a reaction from Hemutian in Pros and cons of name change (China-specific)
In my case, my wife and I decided she would take my surname when she is ready to be naturalized.  It seems to me to be less of a pain, since going through the naturalization process a name change is pretty straightforward, and will be tied to her American passport and other identification.  At that point she will likely shred her Chinese passport, and have already closed or transitioned anything in her name in China.  We just felt doing a name change in China would waste time and money at this point, and cause confusion with all the documents for the I-130 and other immigration forms. She can verbally take my name regardless for the time being, so it's not really a big deal I want to waste time and effort on.

I've never seen before a name change being considered evidence.  I would consider it secondary evidence at best.

On the CEAC website you'll need to retrieve the previously submitted application and then create a new application, and resubmit.  It should populate most of your information from before, but you'll want to go through it line by line checking once more since some questions may be missing your answers, or changed.
