Yes...it's crazy! Here's hoping they actually drop the mandate in May...it's been pushed back so many times already. It remains to be seen if they will actually follow through in May

Interview last Thursday. They brought me back for the first part of the interview to clear the I751 and when I left they completed the Citizenship interview with my wife. Both were approved and we are now awaiting the Oath ceremony to be scheduled.

Well my field office is Charlotte and it is 19 months from June of this year for my n400 which 1 month longer than the 30 months they are showing for all offices. This is not good for me.

How do we find the processing times for i751 for MSC?  Mine was just transferred from Potomac.  Has anyone else experienced this and is it any faster than Potomac?

JP John reacted to Mozillaman in How to get the manufacturer letter to import your Canadian Crystler / Dodge / Jeep quickly
    Hi all!

I just recently joined the forum, but I've been referencing it for my journey to immigrate to the US to be with my spouse for the last few years. When I looked into importing my Jeep from Canada to the US, I saw a long history of forum threads here that this was an awful process, so I wanted to share my experience, and then, in the end, the fastest way to get the documentation from FCA without hassle.

The Slow (if it even works) Process

My first instinct was to call FCA Canada (1-800-465-2001) and ask them for the documentation, The phone agent was friendly and helpful and found an internal document in their help system to request the letter. The process she outlined was to send the VIN #, current odometer reading, a statement that it was being imported for personal use, a copy of proof of immigration, and a copy of the registration of the vehicle to a PO box in Michigan. I collected all this and mailed it off, but then found the threads here and started to feel less sure I'd ever get a response. This process might work, but I didn't wait for a reply before finding the faster way to get this done.

    The Quick Process

Skip Canada, call FCA US directly at 1-800-247-9753, tell their voice menu that you want "something else" and provide the last 8 digits of your VIN. Someone there will answer and ask if you're calling from Canada, tell them "I am, but I'm calling FCA US intentionally. I was sent your way to open a case # with the documentation team for a compliance letter to import a vehicle from Canada to the US, and FCA Canada isn't able to do that." At that point, they asked me for my full VIN #, phone number and email address and told me someone would get back to me in a day or two. Compliance Letter seems to be their name for it and knowing that made asking for it a very fast process.

I was sent an email from someone at FCA 2 days later asking for:

In reply, I sent a single PDF with a copy of my NOA2 and Interview Confirmation, a letter from an employer that wants to hire me once I move to the US, a copy of my registration and this cover letter

After sending this back to their email, I received the compliance letter back in under 2 hours by email!

    Country of Origin
Some folks have also been looking for documentation for where their vehicle was assembled for import under NAFTA/USMCA. I found you can get this by going to https://windowstickerlookup.com/ and entering your VIN. You'll get the original window sticker for your vehicle, and the "Assembly Point/Port of Entry" will appear at the bottom above the VIN barcode. In my case, my Jeep was assembled in Mexico. I'll be taking this with me at the POE when crossing as additional evidence if needed.

I hope this helps other FCA vehicle owners out there! I'll post an update after I actually move down with how the import process went at the POE.

    Good day.

I tried submitting this through "Contact Us" but the system kept telling me I failed "Captcha." I guess that's the thing that tests whether or not you're a robot. lol. Apparently, it thinks I'm a robot, or else it's not working right. But that's not the reason for my post.

I just wanted to thank whoever was responsible for creating this site where immigrants/applicants can come and ask questions, get guidance, and learn what to expect on their immigration/naturalization journey from others who are going through the same thing. This website has been an INVALUABLE resource for me, and I'm sure others.

I was in the dark when my wife told me she wanted to move back to the USA around 9 years ago. I didn't know where to start, I'll admit. But the guides created on this site, and the wisdom of the moderators and others guided me through the immigration process (as a Canadian).

Now that I've submitted my N-400, I'm finding the site extremely useful, yet again. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you! You've made and continue to make a wonderful difference in all of our lives (immigrants to the USA). I recommend your forum to anyone I know might need help with immigration or naturalization.

    Highest Regards,

    Brian.

JP John reacted to Canadian Elle in K-1 Visa From Canada to USA
I wanted to come on here and share my K-1 Visa moving story in hopes that it can help other couples.

With the COVID-19 pandemic growing each day, my fiance and I were extremely concerned with my plans to move to the USA on my K-1 Visa.  My flight was scheduled to leave from Edmonton, AB on March 31st and crossing customs and border in Toronto, ON before flying to Atlanta, GA.  In the days leading up to my departure, I tried calling the border office and the Embassy to see if I would be admitted entry as there was no clear answer if K-1 Visa holders were deemed "essential" travel.  I heard from the Montreal Embassy and they advised that if my Visa expired (it was going to expire April 15, 2020) I would have to go get a new medical exam and attend a new interview in Montreal.  This was not an option.

I took my chances and flew to Toronto on March 31st.  The flight was near empty and once I got to Toronto, I was the only person going through international security and customs and border.  The border agent took me into a separate office where a new border agent took my packet that I received from the Embassy.  I sat there for about 10 minutes while he processed my paper work.  The only questions he asked was where I would be living and if I had travelled outside of Canada to any of the high risk coronavirus countries.  He advised that I would need to get married within 90 days of today's date.  Afterwards, he wished my good luck and sent me on my way.

I was shocked by how simple this process was!  I was stressing and sweating for days about whether or not I would be granted entry because of the whole COVID-19 mess.  I was never asked about my health condition, nor did the airports take temperatures or anything.

I am safe and sound in North Carolina now and self isolating for 14 days out of precaution.  I wish everyone else good luck with their Visa processes!

I was able to open a TD account before I had a SSN based on my Cdn TD accounts.  I then applied for a secured credit card with TD once I had my SSN.  After 6 months i was able to lease a car based on that secured credit card and after 8 months they released the security on my credit card.  I would speak to a "good" mortgage broker where you are moving to and they will be able to coach you on how to make it happen as quickly as possible.  We have just done that ourselves.

Just left the CLT office from our interview and was APPROVED!!  Pretty simple process. Went thru metal detector and the only thing we were asked for was the appointment letter by 3 different people including the interview lady. They asked for both of our driver licences at front door and for my passport in the interview. Wife was never asked anything ever other than to take the oath. They checked my finger prints and went thru the I485 questions and she said she would approve me today or tomorrow. Then we said don’t you want to see our wedding pics. She said yes and we chatted for another 10 minutes. Total time 25 minutes and very chill.
