Hi All - I am based in Houston. Submitted N400 in August. Has anyone naturalized recently and knows the processing time for the Houston office and the time from N400 submittal to getting citizenship?

We filed my husband's N-400 in October of last year and received his interview date around January for February 12th. It was a combo interview because the Removal of Conditions was taking too long (got the 48-month extension letter) and he had already been eligible to file for citizenship for 6 months at that point so we got tired of waiting.

I had to be present for the interview since they also checked our Removal of Conditions paperwork and asked me several questions about our marriage. Afterwards it was on to the Citizenship interview portion and they also asked him the questions about American history, which he passed. The lady doing our interview was very nice and helpful, and afterwards told us he was approved for both Removal of Conditions and Citizenship! We waited to be notified about the oath-taking ceremony and he received a letter to attend the big ceremony last week on March 27th, which we were excited about because it means I got to attend with him. It was a long ceremony but it was the perfect capstone to our long immigration journey together!

  2. Filed online yesterday at 10/05/2023 and got NOA right away. It gave me an estimate of 16 months but hopefully it's shorter than that like others have said.

I also came from waiting for my husband's ROC which we filed all the way back on November 2021. We did a K-1 visa so he's been eligible to file for naturalization since June (the 3 year mark). I don't know if this help speed things along but at this point alll we can do is hope for the best while we wait.

  3. Got my husband's 48-month extension letter in the mail today (April 11, 2023). The NOA date is for 4/5/2023.

No movement yet on his I-751 as far as I can see. Like most people in this thread, he's already had his 3-year greencard anniversary but since we have a big trip to the Philippines planned for May-June we decided not to file N-400 yet. We'll probably end up filing it after we get back to the US and there's still no movement on his ROC.

  4. My husband has the 24-month extension letter, is a Philippine passport holder, and we'll be traveling to Manila this May.

While in Manila, we'll be making a side trip to Saipan (Northern Marianas) and Guam for a few days each.

Since both are US territories, his entrance should be treated as re-entering the US but I worry if the immigration officers over there will know what the extension letter is and if they'll give him a hard time.

Does anyone here have experience going through those territories and know if there will be any problems?

  5. Hi everyone! I was finally able to send our packet out today. Our window had actually opened on Monday but I couldn't start on the packet until last weekend, and then I totally forgot that yesterday was a holiday so the post offices were closed.

I'm kind of nervous because our packet isn't as comprehensive as other packets. I mostly concentrated on showing joint accounts (banks, car insurance, etc), joint tax transcripts, and having each other as beneficiaries in our retirement plans/life insurance. I didn't include any pictures or try to incorporate how our marriage had grown over the two years since I didn't realize this could help us waive the interview. The most I included was our new home purchase contract to show that we're locking in our future together by buying a house and getting a mortgage in both our names.

Speaking of our mortgage, because my husband's green card's expiration is so close to our expected closing date,  the lender is asking for proof of renewal. I'm hoping the NOA text message only takes a couple of weeks for us so I can give them the proof right away and not delay our closing.

  6. Hi everyone,

The 90-day window for my spouse to file to remove conditions on his 2-year green card is next week.

We're under contract for a new home, and our lender is asking us for proof that we're renewing his green card (obviously since my spouse is a co-signer, they want assurance that he'll be able to continue working after his current green card expires).

What can I use as proof that we've filed for ROC? Should I send the packet by certified mail and use the received receipt as proof? Or for the check to clear as proof? Or do I need to wait weeks for the extension letter to arrive? I'd prefer that this not to affect our closing date at the end of December, so I'm looking for the fastest way we can submit proof to our lender.

    Thank you!

Hello, I wonder if someone had the same experience,I think I’m just drained by the process even if i know that it’s a lot of people waiting too. May God bless you.

After a long time, we finally had our interview Wednesday ,November 20 at 8:30 in Kendall, Florida. We married since 1 year. I don’t even know what to say, I prepared all the papers, I have so many proofs and all documents they asked and the officer  didn’t ask for nothing. We had an very nice officer , but I’m really disappointed and scared. He was going through our informations then He was reading questions, I had to answer yes or no, and then the officer talk with my husband about his job and they started to talk like they was friend, I was just seating with all the proof in my hand I was like when he is about to ask me questions, and check our photos. He asked us one question where did you both met?
He had a big folder with my papers since the beginning then he just said « so do you want add something in your folder ? Because it’s pretty thick » so I only gave him bank joint accounts, that’s all I gave him. Then the officer said « ok so the process is that they are going to review your case and you will get an answer in 40 days, I will make sure to speed the process. »
And it was done. I don’t know what to think.

I expect to have questions, I expect him to checks photos, but nothing he asked nothing. I’m really scared and drain by the process :(

Some of you are probably waiting more and probably in worst position i feel like I complain, I’m sorry about that. I just hope to read someone who have been in the same position, I hope you don’t give up, this is very hard for a lot of us, keep faith I promise to you it’s almost done!

Hey, I know it's been a long and hard process and I'd like to encourage you to stay strong :) you're almost done and everything will work out, I promise!

I actually think that no questions asked was a good thing. The same thing happened to my husband during his embassy and point of entry interviews where they never asked him any questions even though he was prepared for them. Most likely, everything looked good to the interviewer and he did not need to ask any questions he already knew the answer to.

  8. Literally just came back from Chase to research this topic after getting turned away for the 5th time in trying to put my husband on a joint account with me. Chase would not accept my husband's passport because it has his unmarried name, and would not accept our marriage certificate as a proof of name change. Instead, they'd rather have us go all the way to the consulate to have his passport changed, even though the last time I was there they said all I needed to do was go to DPS (and waste an entire day) to get his state ID in his new name which should serve as his proof of identity and proof of address. Now they're saying that his ID is great, but his new name doesn't match his passport 😠. They just keep moving the goalposts on us and it's beyond frustrating.

  9. Just got a text and e-mail update as well today that our case status has changed to "Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview". It took a little less than 2 weeks for our case to update after biometrics.

Since we're in Houston, we're settling in for a long wait for the interview. But now we can look forward to receiving his EAD/AP. Fingers crossed! :clock:

This is our DS-3025. The fact that K-1 electing not to get vaccinated is checked worries me. And of course influenza shot is missing. We hope this is sufficient obviously, but still curious what is the time line before we hear about I-693 (if we hear about it)

Yup, I've that get rejected but also seen others get approved. It always seems so arbitrary. Just cross your fingers that you get a lenient adjudicator who can see that the needed shots are actually there even if the correct box isn't checked.
