iamakbar got a reaction from PaulaCJohnny in 6 month stay on Tourist visa?
So we don’t buy a return flight until she arrives? I’m just wondering what our options are if we already have the return flight
Also, does she need to go back to the consulate or just arrive and talk to a CBP

Yes you can. The USCIS says the following:

I just read a post (different country) yesterday and an RFE was sent to the person because they did not put N/A in spaces BTW the online forms don't let you do the / for the N/A so put does not apply or not applicable (can write it out)

I paid by credit card, the biometrics fee and the filing fee all together. Pretty easy.
The USCIS number is on her green card.

1. Yes. Provide both numbers if one has.
2. Use N/A or None as applicable.
3. Use the current name and include evidence of name change.
4. Petition plus biometrics fees to be sent at the same time.

If you can’t find, either try to look up in yiur online account or leave it.
Some people put N/A in all fields, some like myself put it only on the first row for a category and leave the subsequent rows blank.
i believe you can send two separate checks but majority send one.

iamakbar reacted to Daisy.Chain in MIL got approved for visa! A question though...
My SIL had her visa revoked when she got here, plans changed, and she stayed four months instead of the two planned. (Her plans legitimately changed, she didn't work in the US, had no boyfriend, and still left two months ahead of the six month allotment). There was NO date stamped in her passport at all by the CO!
She found out when she went in (3 years later no other visits and having gotten a steady government job after her return to her country) to apply for a tourist visa for her minor son.
I would IGNORE the "six month" visa and STICK TO what you put down originally. A few days probably wouldn't hurt, but it's tempting fate to try more than that imho.
We knew not to do six months, but thought that one long trip followed by three years of no trips (and more..the application was for the nephew to go with MIL, not SIL, to visit) would be acceptable.

CBP officers, if they so choose, can review the ds160 and/or interview responses. Better not to risk a privilege granted by a high-fraud consulate.

They decide when she lands what time they will give her it will be stamped in the passport.
If they gave her 2 months why start by stating longer?

Ah, it was stated in the DS-160. Same thing, though...I would stick with what was stated on the DS-160 as to not push one's luck.
Yes we did. They arrived back home and got a call from the consulate to arrive for an interview. They revoked their visa as a result.

You said she stated it on her DS160. The CBP officer at entry will have access to that info if he wants.
The answer is yes, but don't have her visiting too often or for too long or she stands a risk of being denied entry. Rule of thumb is twice as long out of the US as in it.

Didn't we have someone report a case like this recently? I'd also start with 2 months if that's what she said.
And congrats to your MIL getting a visa from quite a notorious consulate!

iamakbar reacted to geowrian in MIL got approved for visa! A question though...
She can stay for as long as the CBP officers permits, which is usually up to 6 months but can differ.
I would not suggest starting off staying longer than was stated to the the CO when obtaining the visa. It can result in the visa being revoked if the CO believes she was not honest during the interview.

My wife talked to a woman CO, she was acting very bitchy while the male CO was being friendly. She was asked how many times I’d visited, when the CO feigned shock at how little time we spent together my wife clapped back and said I worked 2 jobs and that was the only time we had (total 31 days over 4 visits in a year). The CO accepted this. She was then asked if my parents were at the wedding and my wife said yes. Then she said congrats ma’am your visa is approved you need to register with Aramex if not done so already. I think with these interviews a lot of it depends on your composure and confidence. My wife said a lot of people were making mistakes or slip ups in their interviews. My wife is amazing and handled herself like the badass she is. Lol.
