My stuff has been moving along at the typical rate. The shut down is not the entire Govt.

Paul & Marina got a reaction from SimonNY in HOW TO FLY BACK HOME TOGETHER ON SAME FLIGHT
First I would like to thank Ben & Zian. Theyseem to give very direct answers in a respectful way.
Do not purchase anything until visa is in hand unless you know you can without charge change the flight easily.. So many people have lost money on non refundable or unchangeable flights.
When I go to Vietnam I always fly Asiana (it's a South Korean Airlines). The have great fairs and wonderful service. I fly out a LAX and the typically have the shortest layover times. I get a Flex ticket, cost a little more but less than change fee. Also I always join the rewards program for airlines I fly or just one in the 3 major partner groups (SkyTeam, Star Alliance, or One World (when ever I see their big signs in airports I think of the Empire trying to take over Universe) I always get free upgrades on Asiana (even on my first Flight without ever asking).
Join some rewards group, fly their members when you can, and explore flex date tickets. Last but not least heed the cautions of others about jumping the gun.
I wish you both a good journey.

Paul & Marina got a reaction from EM_Vandaveer in Unstated Consular Requirements for Fiance Visa
" I am accepting bribes from my fiancé's relatives. A gift to help with travel expense cannot be construed as a "bribe." "
Just food for thought, If you can't afford to travel to see her, maybe they think you you don't have the money to take her
A gift to help with travel expense cannot be construed as a "bribe." I think one can make the case that was a bribe.

Go to your bank and speak with one of the bank officers. They can provide the best legal options.

I'm not sure he is worth the hate. Hate is only toxic to you, best not to treat yourself this way. It's painful and hurts, heal yourself and move on to a better life. There is someone who will love, honor, & respect you.
I wish for you the best.

Paul & Marina got a reaction from kween71 in My husband name is not on daughter's birth certificate
The birth mother could have said I do not know who the father is. Then a hospital record would only have the birth mother. There is more info needed to get to a understanding of what is needed. You might call your passport office and ask them what the need.

Paul & Marina got a reaction from EM_Vandaveer in my foreign wife had me arrested
Yes, I would say the best advice you got is not to listen your you Lawyer. Even Helen Keller had better sense not to do that. I would ask the lawyer what their rational is for not withdrawing the I-864. it may be part of his overall defense strategy You can always get a free consultation from an immigration attorney.
Scott, I would say most of us are saddened by your situation. I wish for the best outcome for you and our country.

Paul & Marina got a reaction from Mina90 in Expect more delays
I would doubt the fees we pay really fund 100% of the cost/labor involved for each case. I am not saying your husband is incorrect in his information as he is there seeing things in real-time. Like others, I was not able to find any definitive reports of this. There were several reports of some of there processes going paperless. I guess we might have to look a for a change if process times to come.
I the word of one of the greatest philosopher’s “The longest journey starts with the first step” Tarzan.

Paul & Marina got a reaction from HarryWL in Processing times changed again!
“I wish I could say something more positive”
This is the frustration for most of the couples.
One might see these as positive:
A. You have both found someone to love and who loves you back enough to make such a commitment.
B. Your commitment is strong enough to make it through this arduous K1 Visa.
C. She has met your children.
D. You were able to spend 10k on travel and other K1 expenses.
Perhaps we can see past the frustration and realize there are also many good things.
May we all be successful in this great task we have chosen to undertake.
May we all raise a glass to those who took less time than us.
May we raise a glass to all those who approval has yet to come.
I personally wish Godspeed!! To all
