csk2b1 reacted to tsabbas in N400 Application Question
It probably should be disclosed in case it somehow shows up. BUT here's the thing about camera tickets...they are connected to the vehicle, not a person. No matter who was driving the vehicle, the camera ticket goes to the registered owner of the vehicle, not to the person actually driving. That's why it's not connected to a driving record and won't show up in a driving report. Now, if the ticket isn't paid and it goes to court, then the person accountable can be determined from the evidence. In this case it sounds like the vehicle was registered to the driver, but that's not always the case! My parents have paid many a camera ticket for violations of their children lol. No one's driving record was ever updated with this information.

You can just print the form and fill it out at your leisure. Just need three current years of tax filings/transcripts. You not working is immaterial and you traveling out of country is immaterial.

You are well within the rules. According to my naturalized friends, this is the easiest part of the whole visa/citizenship process. They just want to know that you've been living here with spouse and paying taxes. You are good to go. Hope you do well on the test and welcome to citizenship!

csk2b1 reacted to Ben&Zian in K1 awaiting green card: what's my legal status?
And my husband is gay, brown, Filipino(which can be and has been mistaken for Mexican/Hispanic), live in Houston, and he even has a relatively common Spanish last name(spelt the same just pronounced differently) and he fears or worries about nothing. All was saying is, all these 'stories' you hear and see on the news, have gone on for years and years but never heard about them until President Trump's election, now it's all over the place to race bait and get the left side all riled up; but again in reality majority of the things you hear about have been happening as in border patrol's ability to detain people and such. It's not new. It's just "new" because the media wants it to seem that way and get people to live in fear and worry. For instance, you can read a lot of articles about people being detained for deportation, and the whole one or two page article will pull at your heart strings with the same sob story... then about 6 sentences before the end they'll slyly insert that the person was wanted for a crime or had committed a crime of some sort to become deportable. They just paint it the other way. Main thing is, this all isn't new. It's been going on for years. By people trying to blame this all on the "current climate" is somewhat absurd. All the enforcement happening is for the most part laws that have been in place for years and even decades, they just never actually got enforced very well. And as a Army combat vet, I definately applaud enforcing laws. As citizens we live by them, as so should anyone else whether legal resident, visitor, F1 student, ect... they should all live by the laws as such.

Umm.. it should have always been a scary time. As for people doing things legally, such as yourself and your husband, you have nothing to be afraid of at all. Stop listening to the media.

csk2b1 reacted to CarlHamilton in N400 backlog skyrockets under new administration
This is a major factor, and it's mentioned by both USCIS and its critics in the article, although it's kind of buried.  It explains why the backlog started increasing in the last months of the Obama administration, when many eligible folks started panic-applying.  The other big thing is the introduction of interviews for all AOS applications, which takes time away from officers who would otherwise do naturalization interviews.  But neither development is part of a sinister plot against immigrants.  USCIS has tried to streamline the process (by moving it online, among other things) but remains subject to staffing and funding constraints, like many government agencies.

Think of the numbers also how they grew with the President's election. People who were satisfied and happy being GC holders all of a sudden panicked because of the "fear" instilled in them by the media to apply for citizenship. I'm sure that explains a lot of the increase in N400 applications also which, obviously can begin to cause backlog when offices get overwhelmed. Not the entire reason but possibly one factor into it all.

Then all this travel is your choices to make.  Point is don't blame other things for your own choices. As someone who spent 12-15 months on deployments in the middle east, trust me, it's not hard to stay away from family/friends/ect. Honeymoon can be done at anniversary and some don't even bother with it. That's again, your own personal choice to make. And the ability to travel must also show you got EAD but don't want to or aren't working cause I know a lot of companies wouldn't be giving any time off within first 6 plus months, that's usually just an evaluation period. Point is, again, if you're "worried" or "afraid", don't go regardless of whatever circumstance you wish to use as the reason, just pretty simple. And as for the GC holders being held up before, yes there was some miswording/guidance in the first "ban", but also again only USC's are guaranteed entry into the US. A GC still doesn't; but that issue has been corrected and the ban also was supported by the SCOTUS yesterday in it's entirety. So if the laws of this country worry/bother people, again, it is all your personal choice, and a lot of immigrants(regardless how they came in legally through marriage, K-1, F1, ect) understand this and applaud it all (my husband does).. So that's all I'm saying.

These are absolute numbers. You have to sort them by percent of immigrant population (use the same wiki table). When you do that, Sweden is right there with the US, at 14.3% (of immigrants per population). Absolute numbers are meaningless because you're comparing a country the size of USA to those the size of Latvia.

OK so I thought about calling the USCIS to see whats up because the App says 206 days since they received my application.
I asked for a Tier 2, and after waiting 110 minutes I get my call back. The very sweet lady over the phone asks me my basic info to verify its me and she says hmm you were approved March 6th. Your letter went out on March 7th. I almost busted into happy tears. She then gave me a general timeline for the  next steps and then gave me the State Departments info so I can call at the end of the month to pay the fee and wait for them to send it to the Dominican Republics consulate.
She says it'll be a little under 2 more months to go and my fiance will be here by Mothers day!!!!

Do you have a UK issued American Express card? You can use their international card transfer service, which will give you a US American Express card (you get to retain your UK one) and your new account retains your original member since date. That helps your credit score a lot.

You probably will need an SSN to do that though.

When we were married and my husband had his SSN, I added him as an authorized user to my existing credit card.  Capital One said his activity would be reported under his SSN.  Within 3 months of using the card, he started getting "pre-approved"  applications from other credit card companies.  I doubt those would have come along unless he had already started building is credit score.

Did anyone see the recent the White House spiel on chain migration - entire villages were relocating to the United States in 1 year? And the other one on the "fact" that virtually all terrorists currently on trail within United States territory are foreign born IMMIGRANTS? And they have the gumption to call out fake news in our media when they manipulate the truth. If you were to look into the details on the terrorist immigrants: all captured overseas and brought to US terrorists for trial. Yes I suppose they are immigrants as they had to be admitted to face trial and they are terrorists, or at least pursued as such.

Immigration for all of us is very emotional. That can be see everyday on this forum but don't let the emotions over rule rational thought. We all know someone going through a horrendous time with regards to DACA, AOS or some other form of immigration.
