OK so I thought about calling the USCIS to see whats up because the App says 206 days since they received my application.

I asked for a Tier 2, and after waiting 110 minutes I get my call back. The very sweet lady over the phone asks me my basic info to verify its me and she says hmm you were approved March 6th. Your letter went out on March 7th. I almost busted into happy tears. She then gave me a general timeline for the  next steps and then gave me the State Departments info so I can call at the end of the month to pay the fee and wait for them to send it to the Dominican Republics consulate.

She says it'll be a little under 2 more months to go and my fiance will be here by Mothers day!!!!

Congrats!

Hmmmm ok first of all congrats but I think the info she gave is not right. If this is a fiancé visa your next step is to call NVC for a case number then schedule medical and interview. You fill out ds160 and pay the visa fee to the embassy. You don’t pay fees to the department of state. Check the guideline up on the left top of this website for K1 visa and see what happens next.

I kept a close "nearly daily" on the status at the USCIS site.  There, you can sign up to receive both emails and text messages of when things get approved and move forward.  I received several hard copy mails as well, which were helpful to scan and forward to my (then) fiancee .   https://www.uscis.gov/

I gave you guys the abridged version. She mentioned all those things and gave the general timeline. She said I was looking at another two months to go. @TNJ17 This is why she gave me the State Departments info because this all goes hand in hand she mentioned getting in touch with the Embassy  to pay the fee and all that. Also she mentioned the NVC... all in all i am excited for the next steps. I think We passed the most difficult of waiting times for this whole process. My fiance has a clean record and has a good job in Dominican Republic so he'll go through the process down there with no problems. Just giving a little positive vibes to everyone on this forum. This is a long arduous ordeal have faith and you'll get through it too.

Thanks for the info though @TNJ17

Did she really say that?  If so, she made a mistake.  Many things can delay a case..........but hopefully, none of them will happen to you..

Oh I’m sure you know that things are so unpredicatable when it comes to this whole process but I thought I should mention don’t make any wedding or travel plans as of yet. You never know how long this is still gonna take. Good lu k with everything.

Agreed. She shouldn’t have. Immigration processing is so unpredictable. Our petition took two months to get to NVC then more time for a case number and scheduling interview and medical. Just be aware of that and don’t make plans or you’ll just get even more frustrated and stressed out when you have to cancel things.

You got lucky. I just called the other day to get an update on my case, and I got a Tier 2 with attitude. She asked me for the address on my petition and I asked her which one she wanted (there is my US address, my temporary overseas address, and the "in care of" address where my mail is sent). She said "the one on the application". They're all on the application! And when I didn't give the one she wanted, she got an attitude.

Then once we got that squared away, she only says "this type of application takes 6 to 9 months". She wouldn't give me a status update. My case doesn't appear online either, which is why I called to begin with. According to VJ timelines my case has gone over time, so I was really wanting an update.

Ugh... Totally useless.

All of that to say, you got a good agent, I'm glad she was willing to give you an update.

Right!!!!! It’s actually pretty annoying because this is just something that should be common sense. I’m “patiently” (not patiently I’m pretty freaking mad but hey what can you do) waiting here to even buy my plane ticket even though we’ve already been approved at interview and we have a pretty straight forward case.

Goodluck in the rest of your VisaJourney.
