Husband had his interview this morning at the Stockholm embassy! Because of the short notice we have some things to fix (a 221g with a checklist) but the interviewer said he was willing to approve the visa if the list gets completed.
    1. Get the official name change document and an authorized translation
    2. Medical exam (scheduled for tomorrow)
    3. Send back passport (we had to keep it for the medical)
    4. Register on the travel docs website with a passport drop off address

The interview took about 1.5 hrs. We were there 40 minutes early and were told to go for a walk 🙃 (the last time we had an embassy appt, 4 years ago, we were there an hour ahead of time). Once in there he had to wear a mask and they only scheduled 3 people at a time so that it wasn't too crowded. They also had a fire alarm go off in the middle, so everyone had to exit for about 10 minutes.
A woman took the originals from the civil docs and scanned them as well as DS-5540. She also asked him what his plan was if his "Plan A" for getting a job didn't worked out and if we intended to move before mid-November, but specifically said it wasn't an interview question.
Interview questions (that he remembers 😉)
    -When and where we met
    -When we got married
-How many times have you traveled to see your wife in the US
-How often has your wife come to see you
-Where will you live in the US
-Are you healthy (I guess this is as much as they officially brought up the DS-5540)
Hopefully the rest of the process goes smoothly and we have the visa in hand before too long! And that all of you guys will be further on your way towards the end of this crazy process!

After I checked the DQ email I noticed they added my middle name on CEAC (wasn't there before), but it's spelled wrong, ugh haha
So I freaked out for a bit, calmed down, sent an inquiry email, and in two weeks I shall see if they reply/correct it, or they'll tell me if it needs to be corrected at all...

I just checked all the email addresses list and the lawyer only put hers so I guess that's why we never got an email haha. I'm going to ask her anyways

    Hi All,

I'm posting my experience for everyone, so if you move during this time, you know what to expect. I posted this in a mega-thread and feel it was getting lost. I'm free for any questions. Please only positive comments as I'm only putting this out there to help.

So I moved on Sunday, this was pulled forward a couple of weeks as we didn't know if Trump would continue to change the Executive Order.

I flew from London Heathrow to Newark and then on to Denver, Colorado. At first I wasn't sure if they were going to let me fly as I had to wait for IPS (Inspection of Passport Services) to check my Visa. Note I flew on an IR1 category visa. That took half an hour, there were three people on Visa's and two of us were authorised. I learned the other person was travelling to work on a ship so his visa qualified. The check in staff are told to refer anyone who isn't already a Green Card Holder or US Citizen so don't panic. Overall, took me two hours to check in but the desk computers had also gone down!

At Heathrow, everything was closed! Except Boots and WH Smiths. There was only about 20 of us on the flight. The airlines were not serving alcohol either lol. Trolley's not being used, they just handed meals, drinks etc... out plus no ice was provided. I'm not fussy though! They also removed the pillows but they are gross anyway lol.

Landed into Newark, the Centre of Disease Controls held us onboard. We had to complete a form called the COVID-19 report, this has to be done to be let off the plane. They advise that you self isolate for 14 days, along with any household members, also if you have any symptoms to call the doctor. When you disembark, they give you a mask, if you don't have one, they will give you a medical mask when you get off the plane. The CDC take your temperature then, if it's OK, you will head to immigration.

At immigration, all the guards are wearing masks, they will ask you to take off your mask so they can ID you. I'm not sure if this next bit was normal but you may get seconded. This means taking into the back basically. I was sat there will 7 other British Citizens. My passport was given to the immigration officers behind the desk and I waited to be called. Make sure you leaving enough time to do this, it took me about 30 minutes then I had to get my luggage and re-check in etc.... I have 3 hours 40 min lay-over and had to wait a couple of hours after this, immigration won't care if you only had an hour layover. They asked me to confirm my husbands name, our wedding date and where we got married. I was processed and released.

Now, domestic flights don't seem to have many restrictions. It was a full flight from Newark to Denver. It seems the general consensus to wear your mask when you aren't eating or drinking. I popped to the bathroom to remove mine periodically as I get pretty claustrophobic in mine! I think I saw one person without a mask. Again, only non-alcoholic drinks on board!

Landed in Denver, this was pretty normal, no checks for domestic flights. Denver was pretty closed as well except for the necessary shops. My husband wanted to plan a group at the airport but due to the pandemic, it was just him which is fine.

I think this will be a story for our kids how mummy moved during a world crisis.

Hello Everyone! Just FYI: the embassy is starting up certain visa interviews again! We have been scheduled for an interview on August 13 for a CR1 visa! We were approved by the NVC on May 4th. It appears that the fact that many types of visas have been suspended is causing those that are not suspended to be taken care of a little bit quicker! I say this because I know of someone who was approved by the NVC about a month and a half BEFORE us and their interview is only 13 days before ours! Hope that this good news makes someone's day!

    So true!

I also think it would be helpful for significant others and spouses to learn how to be of support for those moving, besides the obvious.  I know one of the first things I tried to get for my husband when we arrived was to find out where I could get yerba mate for him.  Slowly, we have been able to find other things like chorizo, etc. that remind him of home.  I try to be as aware as possible so I can support him emotionally.  Also, my family and I constantly show him love and support but I also let him have his nostalgic moments.  I have told him plenty of times that I completely understand that he will be sadden and miss hims family and friends, since those are other parts of his life that he needs.  So, as much as I can, I encourage him to remain engaged with them and keep those connections with friends.  We always make it a point to include his family in everything we do, even if it means someone else is holding the phone for the entire time so they feel they are part of what we are celebrating and what not.

One thing I would like to share with others is to take it one day at time when it comes to marriage.  Not only are we newlyweds but we also facing immigration AND moving from long distance to living together.  I feel so lucky that my husband and I can be aware of that and give each other grace and cut each other some slack because of it.  We don't use it as an excuse not to hold each other accountable, but I think it helps with not putting a lot of pressure or expectations all at once on one another as we navigate it all.

    Hello!

I found this area in VJ where we can have an off topic discussion.  Since we wanted some sort of emotional support group, maybe we can use this thread to just talk about Argentinians in the USA and how they (and those of us married to them) are dealing with today's immigration process, moving to a new country, and handling life in general.

    Thanks!

Hello! My husband's interview was scheduled last week at the Buenos Aires embassy for July 30th. I haven't been able to find much info on how to organize the paperwork. Like obviously, I know what to include and in what order, but should I put it in a binder? Expanding folder?  Or label things with tabs? Does anyone have any suggestions or can link to me another forum that talks about this? Thanks for any help!
