That all sounds pretty normal to me to be completely honest. It sucks that your mother in law is old and can’t understand the language. Learning the language is something she should have done when she first moved here. It’s quite impossible for an 80 yr old person to learn basic communication skills in a foreign language in such a short amount of time let alone enough for naturalization.

Depends on where you are. My status change to "interview was scheduled" on August 15. Received the letter in mail on August 20 and the interview is on September 24

I understand how you feel. At least for me I just have to pack 24 years of my life in my luggage. Base to your story ,i guess you have more stuffs in your luggage than I did. We, Filipinos have always been known to have a strong family tie and that will always be a part of us. The separation will always be painful. And that really demands to be felt.
But hey, look forward for the kind of life you'll have with your boyfriend when you get married. You'll just really need to embrace the choice you'll choose .

Actually they do. You just need to present the NVC letter that shows that the case has been forwarded to the local embassy. I did the same thing.

I would suggest attending the interview and fly to USA. You are her husband, the head of your wife. Be a husband this time by leading in resolving whatever strains that happened to you marriage due to long distance relationship. You are more worried that your travel history will be affected than resolving problems with you wife?

The new rule does nto state that no RFEs will be issued. It only states that obvious placeholder petitions and applications (i.e. ones submitted intentionally without enough evidence just to buy time to get more evidence and send it later) are more likely to be denied without an RFE.
The new rule would apply to any new decisions.

NovaDC got a reaction from Sunnyland in Tourist Visa for Wedding Party
My family applied for tourist visa for my wedding last November in US embassy in Manila.  And yes each of them had to fill in DS-160 separately. Yet their interview was in group. Most of the questions were asked to my dad. My sister was only asked about her school and no questions were asked to my mom.😅
Fortunately they were approved with the tourist visa.

NovaDC reacted to geowrian in Tourist Visa for Wedding Party
All tourist visas would be applied for via separate DS-160s. They may be able to schedule the interview as a group, but they will be evaluated individually (i.e, some may get a visa and not others). I'm not aware of there being a difference in ability to get a visa based on being in a group or applying individually. There is no group visa. But some embassies let you pay for multiple visa fees at once...this is something more specific to the embassy/consulate, so I'll defer to others here. There's not really anything you can do to help but guide them through the process...you and your fiance won't have an impact on whether they actually get the visas or not. Hope for the best, but don't take it personally if any are refused...it has nothing to do with anything you did or didn't do.
