Still pinching myself that he is really here to stay. Every second of this journey has been worth the wait. Thank you visa journey friends for helping me survive the ride!

@Cyberfx1024 @Kyle&Ana Thanks for the prompt response. For future reference for everyone that may read this...

    A) We got I-94 few hours after she landed not even 24 hours after arrival from ATL.
    B) We went to apply for her social security card and got a letter that they will verify the documentation and the goverment database for her immigration status and in about 4 week we get a social security number.
    C) We got a marriage license today 5/24/2018 and got ahold of a officiant to sign our license and turned around to take it to the local courthouse in Alabama. All done in 1 day.  Certificates where available the same day.

Please do not wait 10 days to file for Social security and/or marriage license or certificates....i have read that in older posts. As of today all this could and was accomplished in less than 10 hours the day after arrival.  With current wait times, if it weren't for Monday being Memorial day...we would be filing AOS no later than a week after her arrival.

We still had time today for my fiance to rest, do a little shopping and have a nice meal for us and celebrate that we got married. God luck to everyone here.

Ended up with quality US made multi-vitamins, Bengay, Solanpas and Glucosamine and Chondroitin.  Candy for the kiddies and a nice pair of Ray-Ban polarized Aviator sunglasses.  Thanks for all of the tips!

You can call like expedia and book over phone with your situation.  You can then also book most legs with the agent. Some airlines do not allow seat selection.

My fiance just arrived the other day from vietnam and she flew with Japan airlines then two legs with american airlines.  Japan did not allow seat selection but AA requested seats for us and she was able to sit at requested seats.

Purchased our flight tickets through ASAP..RT to Nigeria for myself and one-way ticket for my husband from Nigeria to America..Agent couldn't get us seated together on our returned flights, but the agent at the counter for Emirates got us seated for the first and second leg of our our flights..I know people say it's just a 15 hour flight, but consider the fact that my husband has never flown before and I wanted to make sure our 24 to 25 hours flight was pleasurable for the both of us..You may or may not find someone who wants to flip seats, but doesn't hurt to try..However, you can try it like I did by speaking with the agent counter by seating you together..Good luck!

When I have flown, and I fly a lot, when ever I had to buy another ticket for the same flight I almost always did it online wherever I could find it the cheapest, and when you check in at the airport make sure you are there just a little earlier than most people, and check in together and ask for seats next to each other. I would say 99% of the time it was never a problem to get adjoining seats. No matter what you pick online, if you read the contract of carriage for most airlines, your seats are not really guaranteed until you check in at the counter.

We booked ours through OneTravel.  As others said, go with a travel company that you can speak with to explain.  They'll be able to get you together.

Calling and talking to an agent will guarantee you what you want.  I did it off of two different sessions of the booking site and booked the flights only minutes apart and did my seat selection right away.  With the changes in airline rules, some "class" of tickets do not allow advance seat selection so be careful

I understand you are just starting this process, but the comments you are making (and dismissal of others' advice) indicates a lack of understanding of some of the specific requirements necessary to navigate this journey in Vietnam . . . at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.  Hanoi does not issue K-1 visas.

And yes, be prepared to detail all your finances, including tax returns or transcripts, banks accounts, investment and retirement account, mortgage, employment, etc.  Again, read the Vietnam forums because there are other documents Vietnam may require that are not necessary in low fraud countries like Canada, Germany, or the UK.  VJ members want to see you and your fiance succeed and want to help, but help and advice will be hard to get if you "lol" when it's offered.

Understand the time and money involved in this process.  You mentioned possibly returning around the time your NOA2 would arrive.  Save that time and money to attend the interview with your fiance.  You will likely be asked to sit down after approaching the window with her, but you will be seen and the CO will take notice.

Good Luck!  Vietnam is a beautiful country and I hope you are able to return soon. - Jason

Unfortunately, no one can give you the exact answer for what is the updates is all about. What you can do is just wait since the consulate only received it on April 2. Give them a time until middle of next week  Btw, hope you will get your packet 3 soon and good luck with your visa journey!

So the congressman that contacted USCIS has just forwarded us a copy of the RFE. We need to send off my SOs birth certificate, which we knew we would, and evidence of us meeting within the last two years. Easy peasy.

The case ID is the letter and number combination on the I-797.  If you are following your case from the NVC on the CEAC website, it is the number you have been typing.  It should begin with 3 letters representing the embassy in Venezuela and then the year (2018).  I don't know what it is for Venezuela, but for Ho Chi Minh City, it is HCM2018XXXXXX.
