fcl got a reaction from little immigrant in Passport received by mail in less than 4 weeks (No expedite)
Wanted to share my experience requesting a US passport for the first time.
I requested my passport first days of september and received it the last week of september, so overall it took a little over 3 weeks to receive it, no need to expedite. No need to spend more money right now expediting (IMO)
That was my experience, i'm not saying it will apply to everybody but as far as im concerned, it was pretty quick.

If you have no red flags your interview should go well.

    Thanks.

Interview was easy and very fast. Spent more time going through security and checking in than the actual interview itself.
Officer welcomed me and walked me to his office, started with the six civics questions, then the English test. He then asked the yes/no questions, congratulated me and told me to expect an oath ceremony since I requested a name change. 15 minutes or less in total interview time. Officer was very serious but very professional.
Scheduled Oath ceremony came in the mail around month and a half later.

I had my interview scheduled for March 23rd, two weeks before my appointment i got an update that my interview was cancelled, i was ready to wait several months to be rescheduled. Yesterday i woke up with an update from USCIS, Card is being produced, today it changed to Case Approved.
It's weird because I've never been interviewed here in the US.

In my case it took 8 days from when USCIS sent my case to DOS, to getting a Case number only over the phone(they asked for our emails), a couple of days later we got emails from NVC with all our info, AOS fee and Welcome letter.
Go ahead and call them every day, when you get your case number make sure they have on file both your emails.

We take our family pet across the border (Bridge P.O.E) all the time. They only ask that you have the current vaccines up to date from a Vet.  Sometimes they just ask if shes up to date with the vaccines, and they wont even take a look at them, they'll just wave you to go on.
I know for a fact that it's mandatory for a dog to be at least 4 months old since rabies vaccine doesn't work on younger dogs.

You're welcome. Yes, i had my exam there and they were very professional and polite.

The nurse that administered the vaccines told me that you can get the vaccines in a medical institution/doctors office, you just need to bring the record for the shots that you received to the medical exam.

fcl got a reaction from Hans Martin in Paid both of the NVC fees. How much longer?
After our fee payment at NVC it took like 13 days for it to show as paid.  If you have all the correct paperwork in hand, you are looking at approx 40 - 60 days at NVC (it might take a little longer now) for Case complete.  Plus whatever timeframe your embassy has to assign interview dates, Sweden is probably fast.  I'd say being optimistic 2.5 - 3 months for your interview.

You schedule biometrics on the same link you provided after you register.  You can also pick your shipping method, i picked it up at the same location as the biometrics (CAS) since i live here, but a lot of out of town people wait for it here since it's faster than waiting for it to be shipped by DHL. (Took 2 days from interview to pickup)
This link should help you with the process: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/CDJ_Ciudad-Juarez.pdf

Honestly, privacy when it comes to social media has always been an illusion. Take what's happening with the whole Facebook fiasco, how they sold personal data to third parties. Every day we agree to publically share our lives and even if we think we're doing it privately. They even know about Visajourney or other immigration forums. We all choose to share information online, and it's public domain.

It's not far-fetched that sharing your facebook or twitter account could play a role during an immigration process. It's free, it's right there. CBP already asks for people's phones when going through airport security, this is how they find discrepancies in people's stories because newsflash, it is known that people can lie about their intentions. Is it fair? many people might not think it is, they're invading your privacy, sure. unfortunately, enough people abuse the system that this becomes a necessity. Just like taking your shoes off because someone hid something at one point. Or body scans. Background checks, the list goes on.

If you don't have anything to hide, this really shouldn't be much of an issue besides the inconvenience of it. I don't think a post complaining about Trump/or about anyone else would be reason enough for denial, as opposed to serious threats,  posts that show the person is clearly unhinged, and content that proves they're scamming people.  Just my two cents, of course.

Yes, frustrating is the exact word i would use to describe the process.
My advice would be for you to call every last 5 days of the month, and the first three days of the month, those are the days that CDJ assigns appointments.  They also assign dates any day of the month when someone cancels an appointment, but  are very unlikely,  don't get frustrated at all, just call those days.
I called the 28th and they told me and interview date was just set, email was received like 6 days later and no NVC case status update for like 10 days.

fcl got a reaction from Dianalorena in Ciudad Juarez taking forever to assign interviews
Ciudad Juarez is currently taking on average 90 days from CC to interview, ours took  more, but as you said, there is no real order of "first in first out" when giving out interview dates,  users with a CC 14 days after ours got the interview one month before ours, so you never know.
Hopefully you'll get your interview scheduled the last days of April for June.
Our interview took 525 days from NOA1 to Int.

Well, as a Mexican National living in the Border (Juarez, right where the Consulate for Green card interviews is), i can tell you right away that the current family chain immigration policy is being abused way beyond control.  A lot of people who have US visas go and give birth in the US (15 minute drive), with the excuse of "giving their child a better future", but the reality is that they do it with the intention of immigrating themselves as parents of a USC when the time comes.  This is not exclusive of people from Mexico, a lot of people from different countries that live here (We have a huge variety of manufacturing companies from around the world) do the same.
All this problem goes beyond abusing the immigration system, it goes from giving birth by abusing the Medicaid program and never paying a single penny, to people that i know that are on welfare, get food stamps, enroll in multiple state welfare support programs, while in reality they actually never need it. And most of this people, who usually own a GC, they don't even live in the USA, they pay no taxes on the US, and take advantage of cheap rent here in Mexico.
As i said this is not exclusive of Mexican Nationals, people from all over the world abuse the system, I've traveled a lot, and people from around the world agree that this is the way everybody tries to abuse the system, that in the end, the ones that end up paying for all of this are regular tax payers.

My opinion is, chain migration is out of hand, you don't need your parents here in the US to live (most countries don't allow this), much less your siblings.    It's better to make the system much more efficient for spouses or children that really need to be reunited with their families.

You need to start calling NVC 1 week after they forward your case so you can get a case number and update your email so they can send you all the info to both of you.   In our case after 10 days they where able to give us our case number.
It depends, case by case, there are people stuck at "Waiting for NVC to receive their case" for months.

It's actually just one month behind from the other service center updates, the date "as of" is used to show that as of that date, they started working on those cases. So when you're past that date and you haven't received a decision, you're out of normal processing times.

You should expect case approved in several months (Texas is around 5 months approx.) if everything is correct, or an RFE if something is missing in your application.
Right now all you can do is wait, or start looking into documents needed at NVC stage.
