    Thanks everyone for your comments.

The embassy is closed today on account of Labor Day. Same with NVC.

The English part of the forms was not as clear. It just said that the visa was in the passport. No visa packet. The same letter in Portuguese was much clearer stating that there was no sealed (lacrado) package with this case. After going over the Portuguese documents, we decided that it had to have been digitally uploaded.

Even so, we will confirm with the embassy. My wife made friends with others who had their interviews that week. She called them and they all received the same thing. Passport with visa in it and no sealed package to be opened by CBP officers.

Inside the package from the embassy, she should fine her passport with the visa as well as a separate package marked "To be opened by CBP officer only"..or some wording to that effect.  It is that one which should remain sealed.....
She will need her passport to travel......when she arrives in the US, she will present her passport with visa and the sealed package to the officer......

    Check out my timeline.

I applied based off marriage (married for 6, been in the US for 5) and had a 10 year PR card. I applied for naturalization in April 2018 using the online process. Got fingerprints done in May, got an interview two months later, and then approved & did the oath just this month. The Center where I applied isn't as busy as the other big cities.

I would assume since yours is much bigger, that might be the cause for delay? Hopefully, it will be over soon!

My wife just went for her citizenship interview, trips out of the country were a big part of the interview, exactly how many days. How can you tell them that everything is the truth if you do not know. You will fail. And if you say everything is the truth, this may be a lie. you should do everything to get the exact days out of the country. Good luck

Well, spouse or fiance visa is THE right thing to do - Adjusting from tourist visa or VWP is frown upon by a lot of people, but (unfortunately) it's legal. It's legal when there was no prior plan to marry and adjust before POE. Though a lot of people lie about it anyway and then "change their minds" as soon as they leave the airport.

    But anyway. It's not illegal.

And spouses of US citizens have their illegal presence forgiven.

Though in OPs case, I think they would benefit more if she left the US and they spend more time getting to know each other.

@anamono Do not get married if you are not ready for MARRIAGE. Forget the immigration stuff for a moment and be honest about whether or not you are ready to MARRY the man you are with. That alone is a big decision. The immigration stuff adds a whole new dimension to it and it is not going to be fun and should not be taken lightly. Don't rush into marriage just for the immigration benefits. Many couples don't make it because of the stress the immigration procedure brings.

I suspect OP saying he had difficulty finding the same case is because he was looking for a case where someone brought the whole family at once - his difficulty finding such a case obviously being because it can’t be done that way (as has by now been adequately explained).

Please reconsider if drinking has a place in your life.  More deportations happen due to lapses in judgment by people who can’t drink and stay in control.  If this works out okay, consider it your one free pass.  You can’t have another without establishing a pattern.

Actually, let me elaborate on this a bit more. This forum is teeming with posts and cries for help from people whose immigration is based on their marriage to a US citizen, but who are clearly in an abusive relationship with their spouse. It seems like for many marriage is a vehicle for obtaining permanent residence and citizenship. It is not. And people should not be surprised when it is brought to their attention.

I do not hurt people, but sometime bad thing just happens to you.

My husband was drunk when it happened, he was trashing the house and ended up with a small cut on him and called the police stated that I was hurting him.  Police came and talked to both of us, at the end I did not get arrested and the police told me that there will be an incident report but no charge.  I am not here to cry, I am here to seek for advice. I know that I did not marry him for the benefit of living here, I did marry him because I love him and unfortunately things have turned bad.  I have been way passing the eligible time to get citizenship, the reason why I am getting it now is because my life is here, I have been living here more than I have lived in my birth country and I would like to continue to live here.

Again, I am here to seek for advice in case anyone has similar experience or know of situation like this.

    Pros - none.

Cons - you would be out-of-status and deportable.  Unlikely to be deported, but you would be living here illegally.  Under the Trump administration, nothing surprises me anymore.

I’m also a crew member traveling with the extension letter. I find it easier now than before because we can just skip the kiosk and go straight to the counter. We don’t wait in normal line like the peasants but the dedicated crew line. No problem with the officers either, it’s always a quick process and I even got ahead of other crew members using global entry.

Not sure what was meant under "making her uncomfortable" ,  but  she most likely will be pulled to a secondary - it's a normal routine when an individual enters US with AP.
No worries - they have to parole her at POE and it may take some time. That's it.

As long as I-485 is pending (didn't get denied), she should be fine, coming back to the US.

I wish her a safe trip!!!

They combined mine, and it sped up my N400. My local office (Portland OR) has a waiting time of around 6mo, but I got an intreview date as soon as I became eligible (3 yrs anniversary). Interestingly enough, even though I had a combo interview, they still produced and mailed my 10 year GC, which I'll have had for a little under a month by the time I turn it in at the oath ceremony (this coming Tue).
I waited 17 months for the ROC but it didn't affect me in any way. I traveled internationally a few times on the extension without any issue, and I think starting the clock for the N400 as soon as possible was a good decision.

I understand and agree with you. However you won't find sympathy on VJ. Many members here seem surprisingly pro-Trump and will jump on anyone who disagrees with anything he says or does. It's quite shocking he receives so much support here given the clear disdain he has for immigrants and last I checked, majority of the people on this forum have immigrant spouses/family members *shrug*.

You do realize that in order to eligible for Obamacare, you have to have a full time job?  My husband is a doctor, I am a healthcare lawyer, I guarantee you I know more about how Obamacare works than your political talking heads know.  It isn't anything close to a disaster, very far from it, and take that from someone who treats patients all day long in a hospital.  Also, health insurance is far from a "few hundred bucks".  I own my own law firm and I can tell you what I pay for health insurance for my employees, it is a lot more than a few hundred dollars a month, try more like $600 a person per month.

You are completely entitled to your opinion, but the fact of the matter is that people that receive Obamacare are working, and working hard at full time jobs.  These are exactly the people that we want to keep in this country, so I have to disagree with you that we would deny citizenship to these people.

The problem is that the administration has changed the rules in the middle of the game.  It is like playing football and the referees decide you can play with only 10 players instead of 11.  Before yesterday, no one knew that accepting Obamacare subsidies for health insurance would disqualify them from permanent residency or citizenship.  The administration has the right to change the rules going forward, but to change the rules and apply them retroactively is unfair and un-American.

Frankly, if we want to discuss what is a bigger public cost and tax on the system, it would be the exact opposite from signing up for Obamacare: going uninsured and being unable to pay huge hospital bills.  Someone has to pay for uninsured people that show up at the hospital and the people that pay are everyone else with insurance.  Prospective immigrants are being punished for doing the responsible thing and insuring themselves and their families, that is what is wrong.
