I am in Minnesota, so that’s why I don’t understand why I had to send the response to Fresno. When I told the rep that this didn’t make sense at all, she said that cases can get moved. I told her that yes I understand that they can move service centers, but moving it to a different field office (especially one at the other side of the country) makes no sense at all. She had no answer.

saw on JH FB group last night, someone posted the case status for i-751 from 2020 / 2021 cant remember, and her case been transferred multiple times through out the year. in my understanding this past 1-2 years, USCIS trying to balance the workload for "busy" and not "busy" Field office, i know someone's FO is in newark,NJ. filed to service center, case transferred to cleveland,OH and few months later they got interview notice to Newark,NJ. ( i guess that happened when they dont waive the interview, it got transferred back to Newark for final adjudication) so it happens

Brilliant suggestion..especially if the initial filing and RFE response was a good sized @Rocio0010 newborn weight ( magnificently prepped ) filing 😂

-Tier 1s are useless. Glorified drive thru operators basically, so don't take anything they say as gospel, so don't waste your time on the phone. A tier 2 may be able to give a little more info, but don't bet on it.

-You could try an infopass, but good luck getting one of those in a timely fashion.

Ha! So true about the tier 1 officers... When I applied for my N400 they sent me to biometrics to Charleston, WV, which is a good two- hour drive from me. Meanwhile, there is an ASC 20 minutes away from home.

I called CIS that same day I received the letter asking to be rescheduled to the closest center. The lady said "of course, I will do that right now! and you will automatically receive the new appointment at the Westerville location!" Thank God I didn't listen to her. This was exactly a year ago today when I decided to just do a walk in at Westerville. I'm already a citizen, but if I hadn't trusted my gut, I would still be waiting.

Another anecdote was during my AOS. I still hadn't created the VJ profile so I was a kindergartener for immigration. I called their misinformation hotline and the officer said "your case is perfect and it's already enroute to the local field office". The very next day I got hit by my (only) RFE.

I dare say there must have been a bit @Timona and @Family in your subconscious ear , as we both advocate for walking into any ASC 😂

So much so that everything I learned it's been through VJ and some of the train wrecks we see here.

Nothing to add specifically, but thought this might add a bit of levity relative to this unfortunate breakdown in the USCIS bureaucratic system.  I suspect the RFE response fell between the seats.  :)

Good Luck!

So today I made the mistake of calling USCIS to see if there is an update because I was supposed to call them if I hadn’t heard back after 120 days after my last interaction with them. Well, that didn’t go as I had hoped.. Timeline of what happened when:

August 2021: Filed I-751

*crickets*
December 2022: Biometrics
*crickets*

June 2023: Received RFE for evidence of continued marital life, etc (because, and I quote, “your case was submitted in August 2021 so we need updated info”)

June 2023: Submitted requested info, received confirmation from UPS with date and time of receipt by USCIS. I had to send the RFE response info to the California Field Office in Fresno, which I think was odd.. Was told in RFE letter that they would respond within 60 days

September 2023: Contacted USCIS because I received no update or answer. They couldn’t find my RFE response info. They submitted a request and I received an email stating that my case was sent to the California Field Office at the end of 2022 (why is it there??) and that I should call back if I haven’t heard back after 120 days

Today: I called them and they say they still see no record of receiving the RFE response packet I sent, even though I know it was delivered. Rep told me to “send it again because otherwise they might close my case”. While she is on the phone with me, she all of a sudden asks for my phone number and email, and during the call I receive an email asking me to complete the survey on how satisfied I am about USCIS Customer Service (WTH???).

I get it, mistakes happen and sometimes files get lost etc. but the thing that just makes me SO mad is the fact that they make it so hard to get in touch with them, they give crazy timelines (and don’t you dare call us at day 58 if we told you to wait 60 days), and no helpful info at all! I could have resent the RFE response 4 months ago if they would have just told me that they don’t have it.

So frustrated right now…

This is so frustrating.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this.

I hope there is a resolution for you soon.  Try reaching out to your senator or maybe a WoM?  I know you do not want to be a USC, so maybe try one of those?

Wishing you the best of luck!

Congratulations! How do you feel now?

So happy that the whole RFE situation turned out to be nothing. Still no sign that they ever received my response, but I guess that it didn’t matter after all.

But with my immigration journey so far (waiting 120 days for my greencard, receiving card with wrong name, waiting 9 months for I-90 to get approved, I-751 taking this long) I won’t relax until I actually have my 10 year green card in hand 😅 It has been a Murphy’s Law type of journey so far!
