  1. This is way beyond VJ’s pay grade. I hope she finds an immigration lawyer in addition to a criminal defense lawyer. It’s best to have both working together, since a criminal defense lawyer may not know much about immigration, especially now that she has already filed her N-400. Does she already have court dates? Hopefully she can sort everything out quickly before the N-400 interview. In my humble peasant opinion, when she has her N-400 interview, she should just show up, be honest about the situation, and hope for the best. this is just me talking : It will probably be considered an issue related to good moral character. Given the current climate, getting her N-400 denied might be the least of her problems. What if the conviction affects her LPR status as well? That’s something to think about. Hopefully, it won’t impact her LPR status. If it doesn’t, at least she will still be a green card holder and can apply for citizenship again five years after the conviction is resolved. By then, hopefully immigration laws will be different. keep us posted and good luck. Sorry it happened to you and your family
  2. Hi, do you mind to let me know how many days from ur GC anniversary that you received your interview schedule ? (Not the interview date)
  3. Because my original lawyer finally did what I asked him to do after being useless all along. He had been ghosting me for eight weeks, and I kept chasing him. If I hadn’t pushed him, I probably still wouldn’t have my green card now, three years later. That’s the only reason why I didn’t hire Raymond Lo in the end. Raymond is very good and smart, and his price is also budget‑friendly, which is a plus. Many people I know who hired him had very complicated cases, and they all eventually became lawful permanent residents. And if Raymond thinks he can’t help, he’ll tell you upfront.
  4. The news was quite big a few months ago. I followed a few forums, and most people were never asked for that proof. I’d say if you can get it easily, keep it handy in case you ever need it.
  5. https://www.raylolaw.com/ He’s very good, bunch of people I know hired him. I almost hired him too, I sent some people to him and everyone’s happy with his service
  6. Probably and hopefully because the case has been touched either by systems or human. I saw a handful people who filed under 5 years rule (and early filing) received their interview scheduled on the day before their anniversary but for interview date that is after the 5 years GC anniversary if that make sense
  7. More monthly bank statements the better, so not just last bank statements. Send it all. Chase credit card, u can download the statement through the phone all in pdf file, it’s way nicer than screenshot
  8. yes, u will probably get it in 2-5 business day
  9. they dont accept check anymore since 10/29/25. only g1450 (credit card) or g1650 (ACH)
  10. Marriage certificate is indeed legal document to show that someone take their spouse last name. Name change in the eye of USCIS = U change ur first name or middle name too. But if you just “change” your last name to match ur spouse, that means you “Take” ur spouse last name. I know it’s a bit complicated but i hope u understand what i meant. I-94, check on CBP website (online)
  11. Yeah it’s code 5 though, so not all 10 fingerprints, only 2 finger prints not that it mattered
  12. Not anymore. They want people to re do biometric (doesn’t matter how old is your biometric) especially for n-400
  13. Always file with IRS tax transcripts. here’s why. Think of it this way: an IRS tax transcript is like a store receipt. It proves that you already completed the transaction. Your Form 1040 only shows what you filled out, but it’s not proof that you actually filed your taxes, if that makes sense. I’ve helped about 50 people file over the past few years, and my motto is always to overwhelm USCIS with strong evidence to avoid an RFE. I don’t like to “hold” evidence for the interview. I want to get approved right away. You can file now with your 2022, 2023, and 2024 tax transcripts. It’s understandable that you don’t need to submit your 2025 tax transcript yet since you have until April 15, 2026, to file that one. N-400 is the only form that im comfortable to file online. The rest ? All paper including i-751 P.S. I just filed mine less than two weeks ago too, and yes I submitted 5 years of IRS tax transcript because im OCD and I’ve been filing jointly with my spouse that long
  14. Be prepared for anything. A friend of mine with a similar situation (I-751 combo with N-400) had trouble at the USCIS office in Jacksonville, FL back in 2022. The security officers wouldn’t let her in, even though she brought her spouse’s deployment orders, he was stationed in Korea at the time. She begged and cried, but the security wouldn’t budge. Fortunately, an immigration officer happened to walk by, asked what was going on, and told the security to let her in. He ended up being the officer who interviewed her. During the interview, he mentioned that he had once been deployed to Korea himself, so he understood her situation. After the interview, he rushed her case so she could take the oath ceremony the same day. She was the last person to walk in. So if they don’t let you in, demand to speak with a supervisor. Good luck!
  15. most of the time i am right LOL j/k
  16. maybe typo for the start date of the GC? i thought USCIS website wont let OP go through N-400 application if it's too early? i just did the application 1,5 weeks ago but cant recall because i know i already passed a week from the earliest date i can file
  17. Still the same name just short for the full name. My suggestion, don’t worry about it. If your name is canshiri but your nickname is Johnny, that can be considered a new name or nickname.
  18. I wouldn’t put Nat under nickname. And it’s totally normal and common that Nat is short from Natalie.
  19. No, not everyone can afford to own their house (me included)
  20. just to be clear, what are u trying to do? reschedule a biometric appointment at USCIS office ? as far as i know, u cant "choose" bio appointment rescheduling date. or did i get ur question wrong?
  21. i really thought as in "fraud" question, that is my understanding. edit. i saw it's n-400 question. i filed many n-400 marriage base, and i always choose : NO. they all got their citizenship
