Hello! End-of-October filer here, so I'll be monitoring both the October and November threads :)

31 OCT 2022: Sent ROC packet out via UPS

7 NOV 2022: Received text from USCIS:  “Your case was received. Receipt #(removed). Official Receipt Notice (Form I-797C) to follow in mail. Msg & Data rates may apply. DO NOT REPLY”

12 NOV 2022: Received I-797 NOA in the mail, 24 months extension

Now anxiously waiting for biometrics schedule — I’ll be gone for business trips and vacations for a total of 6 weeks in the next two months so there’s a high probability that they’ll schedule me while I’m away. Does anyone know if you can reschedule biometrics appointment more than once..?

Don't reschedule it even once if you can. This can result in massive delays, we're talking about 3-6 months or worse.

Have your USPS Informed Delivery enabled, check your case status regularly. In case if biometrics is scheduled, rush back to do it.

I wish I had the option not to. These trips had been set in motion months ago and my team wouldn't be happy if I bailed last minute. In hindsight, I would have delayed my ROC application had I known that biometric appointments tend to happen fairly quickly after the initial submission..

Your mileage may vary but my husband's biometric appointment from an MSC case number was almost exactly 1 month after USCIS received my case.

You mentioned vacations in between business trips. I think it's in your interest to prioritize immigration. Feel free to do what you need to do, but know rescheduling biometrics or interviews is not advisable. You should be able to reschedule it as many times as you want, at least I didn't hear about the limit. But every time you reschedule you pause your case and risk USCIS denying your case, expecting you to show up for biometrics, even when you reschedule it.

@MlgSea You can also try to do a walk-in appointment. Many people here have done that successfully, but YMMV. Basically, if you get a biometrics notice with a date that falls within your travel dates, go ahead and go to the office where the biometrics is to be taken and see if they will go ahead and do it for you early. Of course this will only work if you are home when the letter comes in (or if you have a break in between trips before the scheduled appointment).

Is everyone required to do biometrics whether or not they get called in for an interview?

Thought you got it Saturday when I got mine.

We moved to a new house, a few weeks before the ROC application,  so we are picking our mails at the post office. Post office didn't sort the mails on the Saturday when I went to collect 😁. So I decided to have some more drama of waiting 😆😁🤣

It seems that way. Sometimes they will waive it if you already did it as part of AOS, but for those of us who came from CR-1 and not K-1 I think all of us have had to go in. Whether or not the interview gets waived happens when they actually look through what you submitted for your case. You'll have done the biometrics long before you know if you have an interview.

Yes, everybody go through biometrics phase, some get biometric appointment waived. There's no correlation between biometrics appointment and interview.

- You may be asked to attend biometrics appointment and attend interview

- You may be asked to attend biometrics appointment and have interview waived

- Your biometrics appointment may be waived, but you may be asked to attend the interview

- Your biometrics appointment may be waived and interview may be waived too.

Whether you have an interview or not depends on supporting evidence you provide and your immigration history. Plus some interviews are random.

Haha well at least you got it cause you just never know with USPS. It's a gamble, well at least here in FL🤦🏾‍♀️

The guideline is that it's in their discretion to waive the interview if an applicant has been interviewed in the US before. This is typical for everyone who had an AOS interview. Same for biometrics. Still every now and then somebody who was interviewed before gets an interview but that's completely random. And waiver cases most likely get an interview.
