Consulate Review: Ankara, Turkey
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 12, 2019
Embassy Review : My fiance had to wait 2-3 hours total. Overall process was very easy and smooth for her. They called her up to first window to collect police certificate, birth certificate, medical, I-134 and only asked for 2018 IRS Transcript as a supporting document. Although we had a letter from my employer and letter from my bank they didn't ask for all those. They didn't ask for any additional proof of relationship nor photos. They told her to keep all other documents in case you will need those in the future. They didn't ask her for interview language. Couple of minutes later she asked them about it and they told her "All immigrant visa interviews conducts in Turkish"

Hours of wait, she called up to another window and a nice American men asked her how she is doing in Turkish. After that, asked her "Do you speak English", she answered "a little bit". He told her to raise her hand and swear to tell the truth. And asked her "Are you married", she answered "No." . He started doing some typing in computer and said "Your visa approved" in Turkish. This process took only a minute or 2! No other questions asked. She was really surprised and was expecting an interview in private room or something as mentioned by other people here. I guess we were over prepared
Rating : Very Good

Embassy Review : Easy interview. Friendly interviewer, in and out in 30min. Yes/no questions took most of the time. Didn't ask for any paperwork prepared before the interview, didn't even asked for the original documents we submitted

Congratulations! Can you tell me please how did you schedule your interview? My case came to Ankara Consulate on the 21th of June. I guess we must wait a special interview appointment letter from Consulate and then we can be able to pay fee and take an appointment date? I made a profile but can do nothing( When did you see available dates? Waiting for your reply, guys!

Thank you! Actually I did send an email to consulate a week after they received my case. They told me to wait for their email to schedule an appointment because there were no available dates. They received my case May 2, and I received their email May 22 to book an appointment.

Thanks for help! I checked yesterday my case status is ready for appointment! So when I receive the e-mail I will see the available dates?)) When did you see these dates? Or they give you one themselves? I am so sorry and nervous that NOA2 expires September 9( Must I send them scans of required docs before interview? Sorry for disturbing. I ve read so many about it but it is still mess in my mind. Thanks.

I guess they have huge backlogs. This is what they send me right after my inquiry about my case in May "Although we have received your petition, since there is no available appointment slot we have not sent you our instructions email. Please check again in June." Couple of weeks later they send the official email to schedule our appointment. I guess they are sending this email when they have open slots. Maybe you could send them an email about this and address your worries. I read somewhere in the forum, if your NOA2 expires, they will automatically extend the period for 4 months. You don't need to send them anything. You won't receive a paper packet. Here is the instructions : https://tr.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/91/2017/06/K1K2-Visa-Instructions-EN.pdf

Thanks soooo much! I had this one yesterday Dear Sir/Madam, As we have informed you before we have received your file and regarding interview appointments please note that due to high demand, appointment slots we open for K-1 visa category run out so quickly. However, there might be cancellations by other applicants and you might be able to use once of those slots. We recommend you to check the appointment availability through https://usvisa-info.com daily. Sincerely, Immigrant Visa Unit US Embassy, Ankara You see its nothing about available dates. I understood I need to wait another letter))) Have you scheduled you medical exam? I read on their site they give you date themselves when you send them your appointment confirmation date. Your info is so helpful for me. I am so nervous because my daughter will immigrate with me and she needs to start her school asap) Thanks alot!

Looks like you need to keep checking then :( I guess I was lucky that they let me know about open slots. You need to schedule your medical with www.doctorun.com, information available on their website. Good luck!

Congratulations on your approved visa! I was just wondering when you did finally see interview date options, were there several options or just one date? I am hoping that when the dates become available some will be much sooner than others.

May 22nd i did book an appointment, 20 days after my case received by the embassy. There were several dates available for June. I guess it only opens up for a certain month

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
