Comments : Interview Experience at the Dublin Embassy:

My husband arrived and went through security and then the waiting area is divided into a section for American Citizens and another for non-Citizens. He was directed to the non-Citizen area and was the only one in that section.

He was there for about an hour total, but most of it was waiting around -- the actual interview took less than 10 minutes. Because it was such an important interview he had been nervous all week but he said it was very friendly and actually a bit underwhelming with how easy it went.

He said he was asked the following questions, most of which were threaded through the very pleasant conversation they had:

Where is your wife currently?
How long has she lived there?
What does she do for a living?
When/how did you meet?
When do you plan to go to the US?

He brought everything that was requested in the email the Embassy sent when they confirmed the appointment. We also brought copies of everything, as well as proof of our relationship which included letters and photos. They didn't ask to see any of the extra copies/documentation. We were given a little over 3 weeks notice when the interview was scheduled and we were able to have the medical exam performed a week after receiving the interview date. The medical results were sent electronically directly to the Embassy and they were already received by our interview date, which was 2 weeks after the exam.

At the end of the interview my husband was told that he was approved and he was handed a piece of paper with some info regarding next steps.

Comments : When he said he was coming through with a Visa, they date-stamped stamped the page next to the Visa and took him to an office area. They asked if he had a copy of the marriage certificate with him, and since he was bringing all documents with him, he was able to provide it. The process was smooth and after confirming the address where the Green Card should be sent, they let him through.

Do you know if a there was a drug screening for the medical?

They didn't say what they were testing for during the medical, but one of the questions they ask is if you've done drugs.

Congratulations, and thank you for posting your husband's interview experience.

Thanks for all the congrats! And Neca, my pleasure, I found it really helpful when others shared their experiences. I see you'll be at Dublin Embassy as well, I hope you get your interview date soon and have a similarly easy experience.

Congrats on visa receipt in hand!! We got ours today too. Did you get a sealed visa packet or just the passport with visa stamped inside?
blank avatar JenIE on 2020-10-31 said:
Thanks, and congrats to you too! I'm glad you made it through the approval process and also have your Visa now! We just got the Visa, no sealed packet. When we got approved though they handed my husband a piece of paper that said the "packet" is now sent electronically. So they will pull up that information on their computers when you present the Visa at the POE.

Thanks for that info.. Her visa does have a annotation saying "IV docs in CCD". So guess that's that! Approaching the finish line.. :) All the best to you guys!:)

No problem, it's definitely good to know we received the same things from the embassy! Our Visa has the same annotation. All the best to you guys as well!!

Amazing to see you guys are finally together!! :) Any heads up about the POE at Dublin? Immigration officer questions, process etc?
blank avatar JenIE on 2020-11-06 said:
Thank you! It's very exciting to FINALLY get to live together and know we don't have to keep saying goodbye. The POE in Dublin was GREAT! Because pretty much only US citizens are allowed into the US from Europe at the moment the security was pretty empty -- he said when he went through it was pretty much just him so it took no time at all. They took him to a little office-like section to process him and didn't really ask him much. They did ask if he happened to have a copy of our marriage certificate on him -- which he did because he was bringing back all those original documents we had gathered for the rest of the process. So he showed that and it all went smoothly. Are you planning on entering the US soon??
NGorge on 2020-11-06 said:
Yes. She is planning to be here next Friday. Hope it goes smoothly without any hiccups! :)

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
