The end of the agony

Wife and I had our ROC interview earlier today in Newark, NJ. We originally filed back on 11/1/2019. Almost 32 full months.

 

I am ecstatic to report that, after checking receipt # online, we were approved!

 

Our agent was no-nonsense but pleasant. Interview took about 15 mins. I was worried we were a bit thin on evidence but he only took about 15 pages of the many we brought. He mostly asked me, the petitioner, the questions, which my wife and I both thought was kinda funny.

 

At the end, he and my wife talked about the Philippines ( he was also Filipino ) and going back home. My wife really is charming and has such a beautiful smile, it is hard not to be taken by her.

 

He said he will review further and we should hear from him in a few weeks but 90 mins later, we saw those beautiful words "Your card is being produced" on the screen.

 

I wish all of those still waiting the best as we all know how excruciating that is. And, thank you so much for everyone on here for helping us to navigate the immigration terrain; it really made a huge difference in the process. All our best to you all!

Congratulations......The I-75 needs to be eliminated...immediately.  It is not needed.

My calculations show that only 1-3 percent of I-751s are actually denied.......I would say that is a strong case for elimination.......Thanks for your vote of confidence....😃

If you canculate the amount of money everyone pays for the fee, you would find out that I-751 is one of their key products. They have been fed so well by this! Just an opinion from a business person

I agree.....and since the courts refused to increase processing fees to appropriate levels, there is no incentive for them to stop this cash cow.  They can just collect the fee, then forget about providing the service I paid for....THREE YEARS AGO!!

Then just make folks renew their GC for a fee but not submit ridiculous amount of supporting docs. 
 

USCIS gets their money, residents get their updated GCs hassle-free, problem solved.

The catch being, you can't actually run for any office unless you are a citizen, and I seem to recall there is a minimum time you have to have been one too..something like seven or nine years.

When the I-751 is filed you need to submit supporting documents that show current relationship is valid.  However, with the huge backlog and delay, by the time the interview is held the supporting documents are no longer current.  Defeats the purpose. USCIS has your money.  Just issue the green card.  Flag the cases that seem shaky and just interview those.
