Need help

Hello VJ members,

 

I`m trying to apply for my brother to come and visit me on B1/B2 visa but problem is that next available appointment for B1/B2 at US Embassy is around April next year 2023. who should I contact to get his appointment sooner? Would Senator/Congressman involvement helps?

There are a lot of people trying to get B visa appointments.  I doubt your Senator could help.

Emergency  appointments I believe are available at all consulates

The wait is that long because just like your brother, others want to visit.

That does not constitute an emergency or a reason to jump the queue.   He has to wait his turn, like everyone else who applied before him.

If he can't use the Visa Waiver Program for the business activities he needs to conduct, he also cannot use a B1/B2 visa to do it.  They allow a person to conduct exactly the same activities.

No. Senator/congressman would have zero affect here, foreigners applying for tourist visas are not entitled to government help from US officials.

 

April 2023 sounds not that unusual. There are still tons of Covid backlogs and some places have waits even longer than that.

The only reason he would need a B instead of VWP/ESTA is if he wants to stay longer than 90 days. Otherwise as mentioned above, for "business purposes" there's no difference and he can just come on ESTA.

B1 visa is the visa which allows you to enter the US with the purpose of doing business with a company within the US. B2 visa is the visa which allows you to enter the US with the purpose of tourism, pleasure, or visit to friends and family
